After this new hire, Auburn will have had 5 different head coaches in Saban's tenure.

And we've never ran across the field like fat hippos for any of their autographs.

I don't care for Kiffin, so not really disappointed.

Nobody know what's going on with Kiffin anyway. He can say whatever he wants to the media. Don't pretend you know anything. He could leave, he could stay. See what happens.

People can believe what they want, but Lane isn’t leaving Ole Miss and an extension and announcement are coming soon.
Yep, just like the last OM coach Auburn wanted and his "pine box" comment.

Completely different situation now. We were on probation when Tubs said that and y’all came back and offered him double what we were paying him after he turned you down the first time.
You think y’all are going to pay Kiffin $15 million a year?

The Running of the Gumps was a bright ray of sunshine in the dark recesses of football-less August. It's a shame we don't have it any longer.

After Pete Boone had repeatedly slow rolled any improvements because he was a cheapskate. Tubs with a competent AD here still probably leaves but it wouldn’t have been so sudden.

I would assume the Barners had already jumped off the Lane Train when he lost to Alabama. After all, it's all about beating Bama and finding a coach that can or has beaten Bama in the past.

LOL. Tubs left because he knew he’d have a recruiting advantage at Auburn he didn’t have at Ole Miss.

And you were coming off probation, and the previous years were the ones where you had scholly limits and bowl game bans, not 1998. Ole Miss was on probation when they hired Tuberville.

quote:

"I was contacted by most jobs that were open," he said."This is the only one I considered. It's not about the money. It's about the opportunity. I think we can win a national championship."

Auburn also didn’t “double” his pay. The year before Arkansas came after him and Broyles had him locked up, and Ole Miss had to come out $750k to keep him. Had Tubs just been willing to meet with their committee, he would have been the Arky coach and not Nutt. Auburn offered him $900k the next year and he took it. Last math I did, $900k is not double $750k.

Intelligent Bammers realize that AU has the money and the leadership necessary for the first time. That is why you are in denial. Loggies!

Sure. That's why we fired Gus.

Can we stop with this asinine narrative already

Is Kiffin on your long (and I mean really long) list?

Because if he is, we know he's not taking the job.

You talking about the old list that was proven to be true? Typical dumb fricking Bammer. Lol

No list needed this time, they know who they want. And have the supply and money to make it happen. Lol

Why didn't ya'll do that last hire?

What gives you any indication that a brand new AD with over-reaching self sabotaging boosters will lead to a better hire this go around?

Given Cohens hire history I doubt he’s the guy.

That being said, he won’t turn them down. CFB has changed, and there hasn’t been much talk about how much NIL and the portal impact HC decisions but it’s massive. Talent will flow toward NIL money and, while that’s true for mid tier schools as well, tier 1 coaches won’t have to fight the merry go round of struggling to retain your top talent and identifying undervalued players in the portal. It’s just a massively easier job at a blue blood, less stress, and more potential. And that isn’t even getting into recruiting, the days of getting a top recruit to play at a smaller program are all but gone.
