Pretty simple solution, he could have not had conversations with LSU or Florida until the season was over and he would have bee allowed to coach in the playoffs

All Ole Miss had to do was just let Lane coach the rest of the season. They could have had a better chance to win it all. And he walks ok he was gonna walk anyway at least you have a natty.
Ole Miss lost to Georgia with Lane coaching and beat Georgia without him in the playoff. Your logic doesn't check out.

LSU was so fricking desperate after the Brian Kelly thing and the shite show it became with Landry, they would have waited. They had to come up with a "Lane Kiffin rule" because of all this.. He had the right to do this, but to act like he did everything in his power to stay is just idiotic.
And we've seen this kind of thing before. Michigan wanted Les Miles and Les Miles wanted Michigan. That said, when it threatened what the team had done all season, he shut it down and committed to LSU. He missed out on a better opportunity to keep LSU fans and players happy. They won the national championship and then a 2nd with Les Miles. Now, maybe today Les Miles regrets that decision and wishes he had just said yeah I'm going to Michigan.

He couldn't "wait". The national signing date for portal transfers was the next week. He signed 3 5 stars that first week.
