re: The real question about Lane Kiffin…
Posted by OMapologist on 10/29/25 at 4:53 pm to geauxcoco
It’s not like he won’t continue to be sought after by the top tier programs. If he continues to succeed at Ole Miss, the offers will continue as well.
re: If Kiffin stays in Oxford, it is a very telling statement on the current state of CFB.

How desperate is Aubbie right now? You were desperate enough to try & pry him 1 year ago & you've done nothing but lose since then.

When Kiffin stays, it will be a huge boon for Ole Miss transfer portal & recruiting.
Guys making their decision on where to play ball will have just seen UF/LSU go all out after coach LK & fail to get him. Guys will logically think, if those schools wanted LK so bad, maybe I'd rather play for him too.

I went back 15 years!. That's nearly half a lifetime for some of us. I think it's fair to say that the Urban Myer era is no longer relevant. If you have to go back 15 years to make a case, maybe your case isn't that strong.

Fair point. If Florida had to play the superior SECW all those years your expectations would surely be lowered.

Because OM expectations are aligned with reality & the gap between resources, facilities, & money is either insignificant or evidently unmeaningful.
UF expects too much for a team whose been middling for 15 years.
For all the Gator's prestigious prestige, they have 7 more wins than OM dating back to Urban's final season at UF. After this season, Ole Miss may even have more.
Face the facts. Florida stinks. They've stunk for most of the last of 15 years and all of the last 5. Do this as a program and the painfully slow rebuild to some semblance of prominence will be great!

I didn't cherry pick, that's your last 4 coaches that "never did shite" at Florida.
I'll do ours now. Nutt, Freeze, Luke, Kiffin
Yes, it's a great job. Easily, the best job available. That doesn't make it a better job today than jobs that pay the same and are currently being filled ultra successfully without the same (unrealistic?) expectations.

Florida isn't a better job today. Expectations do not equal reality.
UF is essentially asking Lane/Drink to come start all over again for a 10% pay raise & potential... potential what? Chance to make the CFP because both coaches have that chance today.
Florida should go after a coach with more to prove. Not a rival coach that has turned previously inferior programs into objectively better programs today.
Honestly, James Franklin is a slam dunk for Florida.

I don't disagree with the logical, but I think too often people don't consider the very real possibility of the tax law changing...
Just look at the history of the taxability of Social Security benefits if you need proof that income you thought wouldn't be taxable can become taxable. One of the best professors I had in college (who taught Tax Seminar) always told his students that he'd take the tax break NOW if given the choice.

Hypothetical Scenario - Self-Directed Solo 401k - Is it allowable?

I've got a 9-5 job that enables me to save $1,000/month and I own a single member LLC that generates $1,000/month in net income before taxes. The LLC has a Self-Directed Solo 401k plan.
Can I use my $1,000 9-5 savings to pay my LLC for some services and thereby increase my contributions to the 401k? Can I otherwise use the 9-5 savings to contribute to the 401k?
Assume that the services are legitimate, if possible.
If anyone has experience in a similar situation or with a Self-Directed Solo 401k plan in general I would love to hear your thoughts or your particular situation.

Another vote for QB over Sage here. I use both QB Enterprise and QBO. To be fair I have only limited experience with Sage.
While Quickbooks itself is not great at inventory management (if that's really what you're looking for), Quickbooks is best in class when it comes to 3rd party integrations meaning you should be able to find a software that meets your inventory tracking needs and integrates fairly seamlessly with whatever version of Quickbooks you want.

At this point, I just suggest putting in the miles. I'd try to run 5x a week. Just get in the miles. That's only 4 weeks. 20 runs, make them count.
Advice well received. I improved my pace from 11:15 to 10:33, which I'm very pleased with considering my lack of prep.
