Even if it was current players the punishment would be only to pay restitution because of the low dollar amount. There is a dollar amount rule in NCAA bylaws.
This guy has been sentenced to 6 years by a court recently for faking autographs and using his memorabilia business as a money laundering operation.
Appetite in public and media is that players should be paid because NCAA makes billions. NCAA would get killed if they went after $20 handshakes. PR disaster.
NCAA is not interested in this type stuff anymore. They only care if you're paying recruits.
