A&M wasn't simply because they didn't have the right coach.

A&M was going to be a contender whether NIL happened or not, because they were starting to invest Big 6 type money into their program. They have been for awhile now.

Today, A&M is a Florida or Auburn or LSU type program from a resource standpoint, they just don't have the history yet, but it will happen. A&M has the blue chip ratio needed to win a natty right now.

NIL and the portal don't actually increase parity, they make the rich richer.

Sure, maybe Ole Miss has Alabama's second string linebacker or something now but Alabama can also go get a Heisman contending quarterback from a low end P4 school at the same time. The street goes both ways.

When is the last time Ole Miss poached a true starter from a Big 6 school who was sad to see him go?

These were both coaching changes and not big 6.

He would be probably the best example, any more players of this caliber?

Let’s not look at one season and look at overall trajectory over the course of years. You know. Like an intelligent person.

Money buys you shot. It’s a prerequisite. But it’s not the whole equation.

you just insinuated that A&M is becoming a big 6 school, so it counts all the same. And I see your point on Dart. But don’t act like no one else wanted Nolen, either.

And not on the same tier as Princely but I do believe Diggs (complete waste of money) was your starting RB, even though yall were mostly glad to see him go. And while Amos wasn’t a starter he got consistent minutes at Alabama. We turned him into an all SEC first team, second team all American, and a second round pick.

I don’t believe it was an ultimatum. But a heavy handed nudge would be a more accurate description.

Wrong. Money has never been an issue at LSU. They always figure it out.

The athletic director at LSU was literally told go out and find the best coach. Do not worry about money.

LSU is trying to save money with Kelly. They have the money to buy him out.

We are not firing Kiffin and paying $36 million

There's an offset clause in his contract. And he would sign a much bigger deal with another team. So we could fire him and not pay a dime.

At the end of the day Kiffin will be his own worst enemy. He always has been. But he is the shite with an offense. And players want to play for him. He will win games wherever he goes….or stays.

This is summed up very well. Lane is not really the kind of coach that I want at LSU. But, I also don't want to have play against him every year. Looking at from an LSU fan's perspective, I guess I hope that he either out grows that or is able to put a roster together that can over come it or he has a roster that he believes is good enough that he doesn't need to take those chances.

But don’t forget Kiffin ran off Lebby and Durkin in 2022.

I don’t know that he so much ran them off than they were cherry-picked by other programs. But those two guys were good coordinators for us and I hated to lose them.

Like you and Lunatik said, Lane can be his own worst enemy. And the worst part about it is I don’t think he sees it sometimes. There’s a word for that that’s been thrown around a lot lately, and I won’t repeat it, but these past few days appear to have proven some truth to it, especially in light of what he has asked the Ole Miss faithful to do over the past several years, and then how he treats us when we do it.

He just told you the difference: it lies in enforcement. We know all of you, including ole Miss, have paid players going back to the 70’s at least. It’s just that for whatever reason some schools, such as LSU, Florida, and Alabama, are allowed to carry on the charade while others like ole Miss and SMU were not. Now that it’s legalized, suddenly all this parity exists again. Did Florida and Alabama just forget how to recruit overnight? Of course not.

Yall are kvetching because it’s an even playing field again.
