Of course he did. That’s part of his job.

Link?

There was plenty of talent on that roster last year.

Not nearly as much as there was circa 2012-2017. There wasn’t anybody out there who you looked at and said, “that dude is a future all-pro” like there almost always were in the past.

Our starting MLB last year was way too slow to play the position and part of that was because he was too jacked.

A bigger part of that is that they didn’t recruit a faster player to play that spot. Wasn’t Alabama’s starting MLB a true freshman?

I don’t get this. You get an inexperienced on-the-field coach. He was a great strength guy, but there are alot of those around the country.

Heck, Bama now gets their choice of pretty much any S&C coach they want.

Except Cochran. Which is the point, now, ain't it?

I actually kind of agree with this - he’s a strong presence in the back office, but I think he’s pretty much of an unknown as an on-field coach and recruiter. I trust Kirby knows what he’s doing, but this guy is essentially a rookie on-field coach.

He's there for recruiting first. He's obviously a guy who kids respond to, and Kirby simply doesn't bring on assistants who can't recruit.

Good thing you're hiring him for a completely different job that he's never done anything similar to.

Georgia fans do realize you just hired a S&C trainer as your special teams coach right?

I hate to lose him as a S&C, but I'd hate it even more if he had been hired as an on the field coach.

To be honest , I don’t either. If Kirby wants him on staff, that’s fine I don’t really care. But has he coached special teams before? He hasn’t in the last 12 years we know for sure. Is he a great recruiter? Who knows! He does have a great attitude, maybe that helps. I’ll wait to see what kind of impact is made, before I get too excited.
