So - if Bama stalls, crashes and burns, who is the heir apparent? ...

Not saying Bama will be down or stay down - but if that happens - does another SEC program step in to become the new Alpha team or with there be anarchy?
Possibilities for the next dominant SEC team:
Georgia - an obvious choice given Smart learned under Saban and is recruiting at an Alabama level. Georgia's record the last 3 season is one of the best in the history of the sport with another #1 recruiting class coming in.
LSU - Alabama was the main barrier preventing LSU from dominating the West. Brian Kelly is starting to recruit at an elite level and is a proven head coach. LSU may benefit the most from a weakened Alabama.
Texas - is entering the SEC at the perfect time. Saban gone, Sark is coming in as a conference champ who just made the playoffs, and there is renewed optimism in Austin. They get Georgia at home next season. A good start in their first SEC season could propel Texas to be the next Alabama.
Or will it be Oklahoma, Auburn, Tennessee or even ... Ole Miss? Or will it be anarchy?
I'm hoping Georgia steps in.

He will be average at Bama. This isn’t the PAC 20 or whatever they are now. You can’t play like shite every other weekend and beat Washington state community college by 30.
Washington had a lot of luck on their side this year and that wasn’t because of great coaching.

University of the South has some unfinished business.

As a sad Bama fan that has basked in the glory....it's gonna be fun watching the other big5 struggle for dominance.
I'll be here to take my arse whipping and enjoy whoever can get to the top.
edit to say let anarchy reign

Bama has no place to go but down. Anybody thinking the next ten years is gonna be 50% of the last ten is lying to themselves.
DeBoer could have one of the top 20 most successful runs in college football history the next ten years and it still won't be anywhere near the past ten.

No one. When powerful empires fall, the vacuum is filled by multiple entities that struggle with each other and alternately rise and fall. Folks on here have been saying this would be better for the sport for a while.

Will really depend on how deluded some of the morons in our fanbase are. Given how many of the pussies have surfaced I’m not terribly optimistic they’ll at least let him coach a game before they call for his firing.

I pretty much thought it was common knowledge that it would be UGA, team lost 1 game in 3 seasons. Unless Im missing something

Georgia will be the alpha dog going forward. They have already be "1B" to Alabama's "1A" even with Saban still there.

As of today, obviously Georgia. They won two in a row, ad would have probably three-peated had they got in the playoff. Kirby has built a well-oiled machine in Athens that isn’t slowing down any time soon.

According to many if not most UGA fans on this board and David Pollack, Georgia already took over and is the new king of the hill. I guess that was before the 2023 SECCG.

I think y’all will be a huge player this year. The question will remain can lane followup last years success with more success this year? And can he sustain it? It’s there for the taking, with lsu looming as well.

So many people will benefit. The thing that is going to help LSU tremendously is the fact that Saban will not be recruiting the state of Louisiana anymore. So many teams he had over the years were littered with Louisiana players. And now Brian Kelly has put a fence up around the state and has made that a main priority. Saban had so many inroads with so many of the high schools in Louisiana due to his time here…., Deboer?
it’s a huge win for us in that department.

I just hope Dobro can win 10 games next year. It's selfishness on my part, but I want to see what Lane can do with a decently talented OM team over the next couple of years. It would be a shame if the the Bama flip happens after only 1 season.

Coach Milquetoast hasn't coached his first game and we're already discussing his successor?
