Now the wait and tx fans have to hope its someone who will still prioritize sports and more importantly football. If not and if sports priorities slide, so too will the sports programs.

The main goal and priority of this university should ALWAYS be academics first. I hope the next president tries to fix the issues that are happening at UT right now when it comes to acquiring and keeping talented professors and battling Texas legislature from trying to take tenure away.

Gerald Turner? Holy shite

I thought the same thing. I remember him going to SMU, but I thought for sure he would have been retired by now.

Meh. It's about time academia started getting some comeuppance. UT costs too much, and a lot of that cost is worthless tenured profs in even more worthless fields of study, along with administrative bloat. I used to be all about academic freedom - I have three degrees myself and considered moving into academia more than once - but now the costs have ballooned so much that its time for some accountability to the taxpayer and tuition payer too.

If profs wanted to protect their tenure, they would STFU on political matters and stick to obscure research pubs.

UT has free tuition if family household income is 100k or less for Texas residents. We also have professors win noble prize equivalents in their fields often in STEM while also being ranked highly in CS, math, physics, and engineering. Cost keeps going up because state governments keep cutting funding to education.

So you support Israel murdering Palestian Christians and Syrian Christians, and defenseless women and children of any faith?

ETA: you've never read Galatians? Are you a holy roller who pops his nose in the air and claims and starts an argument about Galatians "being in the Old Testament"??

I could make UT a gold mine in a day. But it would cause a lot of angry professors and graduate students to go stomping off to Berkeley. (or McDonalds) It's called cutting the shite that leads to nothing other than defaulted student debt and professional pontification that no one wants to hear.

Got run0ft by Abbott, who is going to destroy the university.

Anyway, that's my completely uninformed opinion, and I'm sticking to it.

He does it with brief comment and guarded restraint though, which is alright by me. He's not trying to shove something in your face, nor will I try to shove my beliefs.

I will support live and let live as long as I'm alive.

Oh man, you're of them too? I'm kidding, no harm intended.

But seriously, term limits won't convince Texas citizens to install a Democrat governor. But I guess it at least increases the opportunity to do so.

Don't really want to get into a political talk in the SEC Rant, but regardless of party affiliation, there needs to be term limits. Even US Congress needs term limits.

Why am I not getting anything from them? All my communication preferences are enabled. I only got Texas Exes Austin Chapter this morning and a Texas Exes "Thinking ahead? Join us for the CFP..."
