You might want to check out the endowments of LSU compared to A&M before you show off your ignorance.

This sort of thing becomes a real problem when aggy (and other programs, you know who you are) truly didn't understand the difference between the old school bag game and NIL. Giving a kid a small amount of money for a visit to your school and then again to NOT visit another school is bag game, not NIL...not to mention it's always a bad idea for coaches or anyone employed by the university to throw out dollar figures to players even if it's just speculation. If a prospective transfer or especially a high school recruit asks the coaches about NIL they can direct them to people who can discuss it with them, but any coaches or school admin who try to involve themselves are making a huge mistake that will come back to bite them.

I see references to "players being bought" here all the time as if coach from school A calls up coveted player from school B and says "hey, we really want you here and are willing to pay X amount to get you to sign with us". Any coaching staff dumb enough to actually do that will get exactly what they deserve. NIL opportunities are just that, opportunities for players to use their star power to earn money while in college. Collectives are a bit different, especially the ones targeting specific position groups. All they have to do make a press release stating what they offer said position group as well as their terms. Of course getting money from a collective (as long as it isn't tied to the school itself *coughTexAgscough* isn't against any sort of rules, and players getting collective money are still free to pursue further opportunities.

The old school bag game is still the bag game, and any school still trying to use that model (or incorporate it into "NIL") is simply setting themselves up for eventual fallout like we've seen at some programs already.

Just a heads up to the small non-retarded contingent on the rant who might not be accustomed to just how delusional Texas fans are: they really think that they don't play the same recruiting games as people like A&M or Ole Miss or LSU or OU. They honest-to-God can hear, for example, that Arch Manning is making 3.2 millions dollars at Texas , and STILL think it's OTHER schools who are paying.

I'm told A&M's collective still owns his NIL rights.

I believe it's the company we use for NIL deals, not the Aggie collective. Nolen doesn't own it.

Endowment has nothing to do with athletic department cash flow, cash available to pay recruits, how many big time boosters you have, or anything else other than your university’s weird obsession with keeping up with Texas in every way possible.

A&M’s endowment is the college football equivalent of someone who doesn’t make very much money obsessively saving for a too-big-house then using it as evidence that they’re actually rich to everyone who points out that their car is broken down and they’re financially in shambles. Everyone knows that y’all collectively donate a disproportionate amount to the university endowment on an individual level. I feel like I’m talking to a bunch of Bernie Sanders supporters in 2016 bragging about how big his war chest was because they donated their last Starbucks barista paycheck to it in full.

Maybe I’d give a shite about LSU’s endowment if I’d ever donated to it or even knew how. Our money goes to athletics which is why we’re so much better than A&M in that regard

My favorite part is Nolen telling people to hit him up if they need help with the contract…

…when he apparently didn’t read his own fricking contract.

Walt had his NIL repo'd because he and his posse apparently didn't flip past page one of the agreement which obviously had conditions he was supposed to fulfill. He probably realized that just a few days ago and now has the sads.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but how do you know what was in his contract?

Can you post the language here?

I am genuinely curious

As am I. Like anything, the commentary is from "people in the know" from A&M specific communities and not verified.

No one will get or should expect any private party to divulge personal financial details like this for general internet consumption.

If college athletes want to be paid like professionals, they better be able to read contracts like professionals.

you post in an A&M topic and the A&M fan is obsessed with you. Yea, thats it. To top it off, thats the normal part of your post. You then proceed to off the deep end, closet boy.

It is a reasonable guess given the Nolen's sudden online bleating and the body language of those who dealt with him from the A&M side.

But this is the internet, and really one of the dumber corners of it, and it is the best you are going to get.

No this was a properly structured contract. You enter portal, you give back the perks and since he probably got a lot of his money up front there was probably a claw back.

Glad the NIL collective didn't bend over and take it.

Jimbo was letting some stupid shite from him slide like sleeping through a practice. Elko showed he meant business in the first team meeting.

A&M structures a contract intelligently and then enforces said contract appropriately. All the dumb fuc%ing cletuses here think we didn't have the money to pay.

Here is my PSA, inbreds. you had your 2006 Dodge Charger repo'd because you could not pay the high interest loan.
Gotta give A&M some credit, they seemed to have learned something from their past mistakes.

Happen every time. Some probable alter or T-shirt Longhorn fan who just showed up and has zero history on this site sharts all over a discussion with a useless flame post formed with the grammar of a 3rd grader. I pray for decent, nuanced smack but alas I get this sorry stuff.
