Should have left the other kid in there until his hand goes cold.

The backup QB has always been the answer for every team that loses since the beginning of time. IMO, we didn't lose to Florida because of Arch. We lost because we got our asses kicked in the trenches on both sides of the ball. It will likely be worse this coming Saturday.

Has this been a weakness with Sark in the past?

Some coaches, no matter how much this is preached, treat the lines as afterthoughts.

Sumlin sure as hell did. Once the well that Sherman left him ran dry, he was f’d.

Trust me every UT fan (even ones that are in love with Arch) is wondering what Caldwell could do. Fl game wasn't on Arch though, he dropped back 42 times and was pressured on 35 of those, the most ever in the Sark era by a lot.

We are going to ride the Arch train whether we want to or not this year and likely next year. I just wish the kid was able to settle in without a massive bullseye on him that he didnt ask for from game 1, seems like he (and doubt anyone) could handle the pressure.

He might now be very good but the media and pressure has clearly not helped.

OK still needs to go 9-3 to get in if they don't win the SEC. A hard schedule coming up.

You think they can go 4-3 the rest of the way and make the playoff? Yall are crazy. No ones getting an at large bid at 9-3

Yep OK with that schedule can get in at 9-3 and likely will imo.

Only team I’d say would have a shot with 3 losses would be someone in USCe spot. They already have 2 early losses and have 5 straight top 10 games coming up plus Clemson

If they went 6-1 the rest of the way then they’d have enough late season quality wins to be considered at 9-3. You’d have to be on a serious roll at the end of the year for committee to slot you in at that record

Well if the ACC gets 2 spots again and ND wins out it may come down to whether the Big 10 gets 4 in again. Will Oregon. OSU, Indiana and MI all get themselves in? Last year Indiana would have been left out at 10-2 but I think the Big 10 will really push for them to be let in at 10-2. Oregon has the biggest joke of a schedule but like ND I think the committee pushes them in even at 10-2.

I heard Auburn was screwed so bad the SEC decided to suspend Mateer 4 games.

Any of this true?

Sure risk further injury and screw up your redemption arc season for a game that means very little even if you lost

Obviously the committee will not hold the Texas game against OU missing Mateer

Why not?? You're not special.

Recruit SEC depth so you can win despite injuries.

We lost 4 OL last year.

1 1st Rounder (LT Banks)
2 others were drafted (RT Williams + LG Conner)
1 made the Eagles practice squad (C Majors)

Banks was elite. The others were good.

It wasn't a weakness until this year imo, but it wasn't elite either.

Curious what everybody’s thoughts are. Word is he’s playing Saturday. Do you play Mateer to win your rivalry game or hold him out to prioritize the run to the playoffs? Obviously the committee will not hold the Texas game against OU missing Mateer, if they go on to win 9-11 games, but at the same time Texas can’t be allowed to win. I lean towards holding him out and preparing for the back half of the schedule

Personally I don't see how you'd need him to win but clearly Vegas thinks we win without him starting.
I still don't get that spread.

Also, I think it's hilarious and ridiculous that that thread was anchored.

Everyone is saying the same thing.. bet the house on Oklahoma.. but when everyone is on 1 side of a bet, that makes me wonder what Vegas knows that I don't know.

If forced to pick, I'd pick Oklahoma all day every day at this point, but I've also seen Charlie Strong beat Oklahoma, so anything is possible in this game.

I've been telling people the same thing all day. Vegas doesn't get a lot wrong and when they are clearly trying to steer people to bet one side it's generally a good idea to bet the other.

but I still put $500 on Oklahoma at +3.5 on Bovada. I just don't see how Sark moves the ball on that defense.

If he's 80% he'll play. By the way, he'll absolutely be playing Saturday

if I bet, this is 100% how I would bet it

OU wins and I make money

or

Texas Wins

That's a win/win in my book with a small chance for Texas to win but not cover, which would be a giant cherry on top.
