Watching the Giants-49ers OT game it got me thinking. How much better would college OT be if teams started outside FG range and had to drive the ball a bit?

Yes. I'd even prefer their own 35, but 50 would work too.

I think having it so close adds to the excitement.

Maybe the 35 or 40. Doubling the current distance seems a little extreme.

It just isn't real football. It is red zone football and all the strategy changes.

I think it should just be a 15-minute period with 4th quarter rules. No sudden death. This keeps all elements of the game in play. If the OT finishes in a tie, it's a tie.

It should be like NFL overtime.

I think teams should at least have to pick up one first down to get into FG range. The 50 sounds good, but at least the 40.

LSU fans are still trying to get their team across that 50 yd line anyway they can.

The 50 may be a bit far, but I'd like it to be 35-40ish, at least push it beyond easy field goal range.

I would like to see it start from the 40. I also wouldn't mind seeing them go to the NFL rules that are in place for the playoffs.
