Seriously, why doesn't Auburn structure a short term, low cost contract for Coach Cadillac

...and just see how he pans out? Apparently the team would love it, and what have y'all got to lose?....one year?
It could be a home run move by the new administration if it worked out.

We've already lost almost 2 years with the previous guy. We can't afford to lose another on a gamble like that.

He's not ready. Even he would acknowledge that.

Emotion can only get you so far.

He’s never even been a coordinator and he barely beat the worst team in the SEC maybe NCAA

Sounds great for a movie script, just not reality.

I think Caddy would be the first to tell you he is not ready. Even in his presser the other day he said “I have no idea what I am doing”. He’s not politicking for it, he’s just doing what Auburn men do, stepping up.

You sound so sincere and support of caddy.

Of the current NCAA HC vacancies, Auburn is the premier gig.

Playing with passion for one half against a team that is now 6-4, and beating a team that is in a complete tailspin isn't quite the resumé for a current SEC HC candidate, let alone for a Big 6 program.

Whoever Auburn hires would be stupid to not attempt to retain Cadillac on staff, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if Cadillac becomes a successful HC one day, but right now isn't it. Auburn might get into a Nebraska/Scott Frost situation if they were to hire him, and Frost was a much more accomplished OC and HC prior to his momma calling him home.

Maybe you get 2016-2019 Ed Orgeron, or perhaps you get 2020-2021 Ed Orgeron.

I think he would do better than most AU folks, apparently.

BUT he would not be the glitzy hire they crave in their insecurity. You know how insecure AU fans are, worse than Tennessee fans. They are about as secure as Rosanne Barr would be in a Miss America beauty contest.

Yella Fella could probably throw in a new wood fence around his yard to sweeten things a bit.

On behalf of the entire SEC West, I agree that they should definitely do that.

1. He does not have a long record as a position coach
2. He has served as head coach for 2 games.
3. 100,000,000 revenue AD does not hire a coach with less experience than anyone else in the country.
4. It will be someone with a longer experience as a HC or coordinator at power 5 level.
5. I love what he’s done in 2 games, but he’s not ready for the job of HC.

So, how about a short-term lease, with option to buy? Put a little down and lease over 3 years. If it drives well, and gets you where you’re going, you may then decide to keep it. Food for thought.

"Glitzy" hires like Bryan Harsin, Gus Malzahn, Gene Chizik?

Because an emotional hire shouldn’t be the choice after paying 15 mil to can another coach. Auburn has a chance to make a big time hire and everyone is pulling in the same direction.

Obvious reason would also he has zero head coaching exp.
