I think he did a great job of bringing a mediocre team into relevance. That's why we went and got him to come to the purple and gold, where he can get his first NATTY.

B+ is exactly where he should be graded after dropping three games against shite teams with a team that saw 8 starters get drafted in 2024.

Yea Ole Miss was a playoff level team with a top 5 QB in CFB in 2024. They lost at home to Kentucky and at UF, when UF was a very bad team.

I think you can give him an A for 2025 (sort of incomplete since he wasn't the coach for their playoff run but A for his time there, a C+ or B- for 2024 and another A in 2023. So I'd give him like a B+, A- for his time there, and it would be a solid A if his team made the playoff in 2024.

B+.

An A would be winning a playoff game, he didn't accomplish that feat. He also dropped several games he shouldn't have lost that ultimately cost him a playoff appearance.

Lol…he wasn’t trying to “get away” from Ole Miss…he found a big fat dumb LSU sheep to shear.

Only reason it’s not A+ is because of how it ended and because he massively fricked up the 2024 team. There is absolutely zero excuse for that team to have gone 10-3.
My thing about that '24 team:

UK loss was unacceptable. Awful game.

Losing in BR, at night, against a pretty good LSU team is not something to punish him for. It was one of the only games where that LSU team actually showed up in crunch time and didn't piss down their leg (see - A&M, USC).

I'll never really understand the UF loss hate. Dart completely imploded in the 4th quarter and no one ever talks about that. Just that "Lane shouldn't have lost to that Florida team."

LSU fans are hypocrites. You talk like a coach is garbage if they haven’t won a NC

Close, but not quite. They are garbage if they don't win a NC at LSU. And sometimes they are garbage if they do.

No LSU coach has ever won a D1 NC before getting to BR.

We had a 3rd string wide receiver playing running back in that game when Ulysses Bentley was on the bench. There was no injury. No explanation. That game was Lane’s fault because he put every structural hope on to Dart.

Point granted on LSU, but we were more talented.

A-. 2024 could have been a championship team but he blew it up. I still can’t believe LSU won that game. Unreal.

What about the other 3 quarters? That game shouldn't have been close in the 4th quarter to even give Dart a chance to melt down

UF lost to Miami by 24, A&M by 13, Texas by 32 and UGA by 2 TDs

I agree on the LSU game. But the Florida game was not the fault of dart. He had a bad 4th quarter but he they had him trying to do entirely too much with no help particularly without a healthy tre Harris. They had no run game and Lanes decision to play a reserve WR as his starting RB when he had a healthy Bentley on the sideline was certainly a choice. Dart got killed in that game.

Anyone not giving him an A+ doesn’t know Ole Miss‘s history. The guy is a smug prick but he can flat out develop QB’s and coach.

You do realize Ole Miss was willing to match that, right?

In fact, some folks have said Ole Miss would've paid him more.

AFTER, he had already whored himself out to LSU and realistically could not return to OM.

2021 Ole Miss was a good team that maybe makes the playoffs if they didn’t lose to Bryan Harsin by double digits.

Incorrect.

From The Athletic:
quote:

One source briefed on the discussions said Kiffin came very close to signing an Ole Miss extension two days before the Egg Bowl. Ole Miss was able to match any dollar amount offered by LSU or Florida when it came to Kiffin’s contract.

Who knows. How do you even quantify win percentages from different eras. Even with only four years seperating freeze and kiff it was very obvious the times have changed from 16-present. I don’t know how successful kiff would have been if at all in the sec west of the teens. I don’t think his teams are better than Bobby Petrino Arkansas teams.

A $91 million dollar contract, $73 million guaranteed.

You doubled down on your Brian Kelly strategy.
