The SEC can't do anything about that. And the NCAA is not likely to get involved with this until the court cases run their course. Don't be surprised, however, if the NCAA steps in after the dust settles with the court case. LSU could be expelled from the SEC and then once they think they're in the clear the NCAA could step in and slap them down again.

There couldn't be ant sanctions because LSU hasn't listened nor do they have any 6th year seniors that the SEC have deemed ineligible. So, what rule have they broken?

I think they will either suspend Kiffin for the year or tell LSU to oust him and the AD if they have evidence of them reaching out to pro players to convince them to file the lawsuit.

If that’s the case then Ole Miss should be sweating too because Wright said Ole Miss was actively recruiting him too. Not to mention if this ever went to court they’d be throwing the Chambliss ineligibility and TRO out there in every hearing. LSU didn’t roster any of their players ruled ineligible, ole Miss launched a heisman campaign for theirs.

Sanctions for what!!!????
Expelled what WHAT?
None of you can or will even try to answer that. Because you cannot.
There’s obviously limited information about this whole situation right now. But you have to ask yourself when if ever you can recall an entire conference calling a meeting to even consider expelling a member institution from your conference. Conferences didn’t do this to Penn State, Baylor, Michigan, Arizona, USC, etc when shite hit the fan at those programs. Hell, the SEC has never done this and we’ve had all sorts of issues with ncaa probation, violations, sanctions, and rogue enforcement.

sanctions actually require them to prove we did something.

Our bylaws actually make it easier to expel than sanction or suspend

Again what does this violate?

The will of the 15 other member institutions? You do realize you are in a conference with 15 other institutions, right?

That all 15 are in favor of even considering expelling a founding member is horrible based solely on what we know today. There has to be a lot more to this issue.

While I’m not a big fan of LSU they definitely didn’t need to ride the fringe and go after “pro” players. No school does. Kiffin doesn’t need those scrubs to be very competitive and a top program. Every school needs to just show solidarity and pledge to not sign this type of player. Your haves will always have and your have nots just have to accept the fact that they are middlings and be happy when they have the occasional break through season.
League could create a clearinghouse with all school represented that reviews those cases that fall into a gray area and gives binding mediation rulings.

I’m not really expecting immediate expulsion, but the scenario that I could see as somewhat feasible would be a vote to expel LSU effective at the end of the school year (June 30). That would give both sides a window to work something out, but put it on a relatively short fuse.

I get the feeling the presidents not only hate Kiffin, but also, are not fans of Wade Rousse. LSU may need someone else lobbying the presidents, because this guy has blown his credibility with the Kiffin thing, and Will Wade as the cherry on top.

Texas has already ruined two conferences. Now you're going to take shots at LSU? Try beating Ohio St. for once like the rest of the SEC has.

Sanction for what?

Their reason for whatever is coming was spelled out in the amendment to the federal lawsuit the conference has against LSU, they called it “lack of institutional control.”

I don’t know how long you’ve followed college football, but there was a time the phrase “lack of institutional control” would send chills down the spine of everyone from sidewalk fans to the AD of any college program. It’s what got SMU the death penalty. So, for a conference to levy this charge against one of its members is an extremely serious matter.
