I mean we were down 8 to the number 4 team in the nation, 2 weeks after firing our coach…if Tret’dez catches that 3rd down throw who knows what happens.
It took Dabo 4 seasons at Clemson before having a good year, LSU fans won’t be that patient. BK just beat him this year. He’s refused to change with the times, as far as NIL, and the portal goes. Dabo would be an awful hire.
I mean Heupel has accomplished more in less time than Kiffin has. Kiffin’s coached as a head coach for, I believe 12 years and never made a playoff or championship. Heupel has, and has also had top ranked offenses year after year. Lane has won 10+ games 6 out of 12 seasons which is very good. He should make the playoffs this year, and he’s consistently very good. I’m just playing devil’s advocate with Heupel. Kiffin or Heupel would be drastic upgrades from what we’ve had.
May be another if LSU or Florida poaches Kiffin or Heupel.
Kiffin definitely has more experience, and honestly winning 10+ in 6 out of 12 seasons as a head coach is great, but so far he’s yet to make the playoffs or win anything substantial as a head coach. He drops some games he shouldn’t each year, and does make some boneheaded decisions on 4th down, BUT with all that said I’d GLADLY take him or Heupel over what we’ve had.
I thought the same thing at first, then I really looked at it. Honestly Kiffin has been a well known coach in the spotlight for many years, and hasn’t accomplished what Heupel has in a much shorter time frame. I would be ecstatic to get Lane, don’t get me wrong, he’s fiery and entertaining, and we’ll have solid, fun teams, but he does get in his own way sometimes. This season He’s made some choices to go for it on 4th on his side of the field and didn’t get it. LSU fans would be crucifying him. In past years, he’s dropped games he shouldn’t have to lesser teams. The whole faking injury stuff last year. I’d take him in a million years over what we’ve had, but the fact he’s regarded that much higher than Heupel really isn’t warranted. He’s just having a great year this year.

26-40 record as head coach…

I'd rather Frank w/ Kelvin at DC

So you want a guy who is 26-40 as a head coach, you read that right, 26 wins and 40 losses, and a guy who’s been a coordinator for 1/2 a season?

He’s coached 6 months as a coordinator. 6 months experience…
It took Dabo 4 bad seasons before he had a good year. LSU won’t give that much time, especially in NIL era.

Hard to judge anything off that season because of Joey B, Clyde, Chase, and Jefferson.

I’m sure he’s wanting to save his redshirt. He can play 2 more games.

A lot will, that’s just the nature of a coaching change. We’ll have to just be prepared to hear about some great players transferring.
BK was a big name at the time of his hire. He had been to the playoffs in recent years. He had good records, butin this era I’d rather a younger successful coach over a old, white, yankee, a-hole….unless it was Saban, which will never happen, and even then in this NIL era idk that he’d have his usual success.

Why would he accept that number?

Maybe some sort of agreement about the lawsuit with Greg Brooks or dirt on BK there?

Struggling like we are on offense we need to figure something out to get creative. If our offensive line is this bad then get gimmicky put someone in to run a wildcat type package for a series or situational. I mean it can’t be any worse than what we have been doing. We need a spark. Instead of running quick 2 yard throws to the sideline or behind the line of scrimmage if you’re worried about Nuss having time, run some quick slants and timing routes. Anything! Put an extra blocker in and get in the I formation and run a little. Anything, but doing the same thing over and over that isn’t working and expecting a different outcome.
His logic is not turn the ball over and play field position battle, but at some point you’ll have to score points. You have to show other looks and extend drives. The defense will be tired if they’re constantly on the field after constant 3 and outs. Look at the 2011 team in the national championship game. The defense played great for 3 quarters, but after the offenses struggling and them constantly being on the field against a strong physical team they got tired.

I’m okay with being on the more conservative side, but at least make it a balanced attack and put the odds in your favor. For example don’t line up and do a shotgun handoff up the middle with a stacked box, or run a “read” option with a qb that’s obviously not going to run it.
