The record for a conference having the most teams finishing ranked in the AP poll in one year is seven which the SEC has done five times and the Big Ten once.

SEC: 1999,2012,2013, 2018, 2024
Big Ten: 1999

That's right. In 1999 the SEC and the Big Ten both had seven teams that finished ranked in the final AP poll.

Alabama is responsible for 1/3 of the SEC’s trophies.
Ohio St. and Michigan are responsible for nearly all the Big Ten trophies.
Now run along.

Everyone on this thread is saying… forget the HS quarterback for 2026 and Geaux after a Transfer Portal Target.

Ok…. I’ll roll with your suggestions.

Give suggestions of who to pursue then !!
We don't know who's available yet.

How is that not funny? Who would pass up the chance to laugh at Missouri being the first program ever kicked out? You must be LSU-level-low-IQ if you dont think that would be funny.
If you think that would be funny then it's Missouri that has the low level IQ's.

The SEC obviously already has a presence in Florida and South Carolina. So the SEC may not be interested in Clemson and FSU.
What year are you in? 2012? Why does it matter what state you're in? There's no way either FSU or Clemson are joining the Big Twelve. If Greg Sankey's dumb enough to let those two national brands get away then the Big Ten will gladly take them and they'll permanently take over college football from the SEC.....if they haven't already.

Lagway's in a boot. Missed spring practice with one injury, now gonna miss fall practice and potentially games in a boot.
Get rid of him. I have no use for guys who get hurt. They don't help me win.

You can't be serious.

re: Sankey is an elitist.

Clemson
FSU

Those are the only two football programs that would increase the SEC's TV package.
Let's just stay at an 8 game conference schedule and keep it as it is. The SEC doesn't need the Big Ten to tell them how to make their schedules. The SEC figured out last year that the playoff committee has decided that you are what your W-L says you are. Thus IMO I don't see what we gain by going to a 9 game conference schedule other than a little more TV money from ESPN.

Maybe 1-2 kids every couple of years can go straight to NFL, but about 6,000 of them would think think they could.
Very well put. Very few NFL teams (if any) are going to draft a kid out of high school.

I think we’re going to see the 8-game plan for another two years to allow more time for everything to be sorted out geopolitically.
That would be the smart thing to do.

LSU has history with everyone so whatever division we land in, I’d likely be ok with it as long as it doesn’t include Kentucky Vandy Mizzou or SC
Yeah right. Heaven forbid that we have any easy wins. Let's join the NFL while we're at it. SMH.
14 SEC teams made the regionals and 13 are still standing.

Obviously you must care enough to make a post about it.

Coaches Poll: #26......

....Right behind Colorado and Coach Prime. UNLV had 3 losses as a MWC team. . How can they be ranked at 24?

1. LSU beats Ole Miss

2. LSU opened vs USC and Ole Miss opened vs Furman
This pretty much sums it up. Yet as far as I can tell Verge Ausberry gets complete control of our scheduling.

The next two seasons LSU opens with Clemson. With a head coach who takes a while before his team finds it's identity that's not good. And if the pollsters continue to rank teams like UNLV then that means that LSU can't afford to lose more than 3 games it they're going to finish ranked. That's tough to do when you're always losing your first game of the season.
Seven SEC teams finished ranked in the final AP poll compared to just five for the Big Ten. Furthermore the SEC had three teams in the "also receiving votes" category (including LSU) for a total of ten teams in the final Top 35. The Big Ten had only six by comparison. Point being the SEC's still the deeper conference.

IMO the voters weren't going to put 8 SEC teams in the final poll. That would've set a record for the number of ranked teams per conference and the AP (which has never liked the SEC IMO) wasn't going to give us the satisfaction. Thus the Tigers were out.

Tulane wins by 2 TD’s
Well of course....SMH.

2006 would’ve been the ideal year for LSU to have get into a playoff. Would have had a decent chance of winning the NC.
The 2006 team was as good as the 2007 team. Of course it was a lot of the same players.
