Florida, Georgia, Kentucky and USCe deserve some props.
LSU, Bama and Auburn play the smaller in state schools on occasion. A & M is new but losing UT stinks for their fans. What about the rest though?:
Arkansas State
SEMizzo (or Kansas)
Middle Tennessee State (especially for Vandy, who has never beaten them).
Southern Miss ( ole Miss has lost 4 of their last 5 and State has lost 10 of the last 14 against them.

I could see these teams being competitive back in the day, but with the moolah coming in, all of our teams should have a decided advantage over these teams.
Question, as a fan, would you like to see an OOC game on your teams current schedule replaced with a rival and if so, which game would you cancel to make it happen.

Give up the Furman game and play Tulane in the Superdome.

We gain nothing recruiting wise, tv wise or national exposure wise by playing Arkansas State. It'll probably happen some time in the future though if they keep whining.

If we had to play them this year I'd make them our opener instead of ULL.

They've been whining for 50 years.

The only time they want to play is like last year where they have a decent team and we are horrible.

You're telling me that game was scheduled after Petrino was fired?

Da fuq? AU and UA play the largest in state school. Both of which have won a NC within the last 5 yrs.

Kentucky also plays Western now pretty regularly.

Sometimes it can back fire on the bigger schools though. The small schools basically have everything to gain, but the big schools have everything to lose.

We've been playing a couple of former SWC schools in SMU and Rice. Tech really wants to play us in all sports.

Not bothered by not playing UTx, but they'd be the only one I'd see us playing on a yearly basis. I would be down for a rotation of Tech/TCU/Baylor/SMU/Rice/Houston.

Sure they do.

I think Ole Miss should open their season every year playing Southern Miss and end their season playing state. frick the Memphis rivalry. Am I the only Rebel who feels this way?

Part of that reason is Brett Favre was their quarterback during those years when they beat us. The all-time series is 18-6 Ole Miss. We own them and regardless of what their dumbass fans say, we aren't "scared" to play them. They're beneath Ole Miss and State. They're the red headed step child of the state that nobody pays attention to.
I hope State beats them by 70 in a few years.

frick everything about this. There's no reward for playing them. It can only hurt us.

I flip-flop on Texas. I'd like to play them and beat their butts but at the same time I remember that I come from a time when bonfire was all-consuming at A&M and the entire year depended on the Texas game. So it would not and could not be as meaningful as it was when I was in school. On the other side, I don't know why A&M should want to play them. A&M is beating them in recruiting, will soon be beating them in income from outside sources, and neither are likely to change any time soon.

OK... answered for myself. The latter "no" is a very wimpy response. That won't do. BTHO Texas. As for the replacement OOC team, that's easy. Any of them. Now, getting A&M and Texas to agree on terms - that's a whole 'nother game.

If we beat them, it does nothing for us as a program. We don't get national coverage for beating USM and it's not going to have an effect on recruiting if we beat them. There's nothing for us to gain from it. If we beat them it's because we were supposed to.
Now on the flip side if they beat us, it would be all over ESPN and they could use that to their advantage in recruiting.

It only hurts us. There are no positives to playing them. It quite frankly is puzzling to me why State is even playing them. Nevertheless I hope State wins by 70.

No love for State here, but I agree. A school with such abysmal attendance at football games does not deserve a good football team.

With UTx getting that 10 year series w/ Notre Dame, it's probably a moot point. Doubtful they want to lock up two of their 3 OOC slots w/ difficult matches.
