Question, as a fan, would you like to see

... 9 game conference slate, one in state school, 1 major OOC, 1 sacrificial lamb.

For LSU, what's the difference between in-state schools and sacrificial lambs?

We should play FSU/Miami/UCF/USF every year for ooc.

I went to UCF for undergrad, at LSU now. I've always wanted to see UCF, USF, Miami, FSU, and Florida have their own round robin schedule, at least for a few years. It would be great for the fans.

It wouldn't do much for UF, but all the others (yes, even FSU) need some help with attendance. Playing games against opponents who can make an easy road trip is a great way to do it.

Cancel Louisville and pick back up with IU. UK wins nothing if they win and allows UL a foothold when they lose. UK will still get the KY guys but they do recruit B1G territory. If Stoops really does start to invade OH for football then beating IU in football every year just strengthens his recruiting grip when he goes north.

The Kentucky Legislature requires UK to play UL every year. No getting out of that.

IU won't schedule UK since we beat them 10 out of the last 11 games played. Indiana refused to renew the series.

I wish we'd drop Western Kentucky and start a series with Purdue, Michigan State or Illinois. We need to expand our northern recruiting base into other Big X states.

Give up the Furman game and play Tulane in the Superdome.
LSU would be wise to schedule them perennially. A cupcake "rival."

Kinda like Tennessee. :pewpew:

But in fairness, ULM, ULL and LaTech might have a different opinion...and some SEC teams would agree.

I'll give you LA Tech. They do have a pretty decent team every now and then.
The others not so much(despite what Arky and Bama fans may say about ULM)
Has ULL even scored a TD against us yet? Tulane at least managed to make it interesting for a half+ in '07

I was thinking ULL/UF, ULM/Hogs 2012 and ULM/UA 2007. Every once in a while the lamb hops off the altar.

I knew what games you were thinking of, but those schools never give us a game. Granted niether does Tech. I know eventually one of them will win. You can't win them all, but it certainly won't be anytime soon. Still shocked ULL did play UF as tough as they did though.

ETA: I would like for one of them to get good, to make an interesting rivalry. Tulane would be the first choice due to the history. Plus games in the Dome would be real easy to attend.

Maybe they went 0-12 because they didn't play Ole Miss. Just saying.

We would've beaten the frick out of USM last year. We are up 18-6 all time. It benefits us nothing to play them.

Be hard to do for an extended period. How long before Hudspeth is snatched up, for example. LaTech might be the best possibility, not as much loyalty to LSU up there.

That's what's hard about any small school getting good. For every Chris Petterson, there are a 100+ Meyer's and Butch Jones that keep stepping up(ok Meyer might not of taken a step up from UF)
I agree Tech would be the best possibility, but as soon as they won 9 games, Dykes takes a new job. They would need an alum to come there, that wants to build them up for the long haul.

I think Coach Stoops is playing off the immediate advantages he sees: (1) His last name; (2) his connections in Ohio, which are obviously very strong; and, (3) his connections in Florida.

Obviously he's a great recruiter but he seems to know his limitations. With a couple of good seasons at Kentucky he might be able to recruit nationally, but not now. Regional recruiting, where he has a name brand (actually two - his name and the SEC brand), is best at this time in his career as a head coach.

I look for him to schedule some teams in the Midwest and maybe in Florida, although it's hard to imagine the latter. Most of the Florida FBS programs are far better than UK at the moment. We'll just have to do better against the Gators to have an effect in the Sunshine State.
