Deep thought. If everyone is in the same conference, is there any conference at all..

UNC and UVA. Flagship schools that would also improve the SEC's academic standing. Plus the Charlotte and DMV markets.

The SEC would take either of these schools tomorrow if they wish to branch further than 16. New markets with strong viewership across all sports, and strong educational institutions.

Here is the problem with future expansion..

Each SEC school will be making about $60 million per year in 2022 and about $75 million per year in 2025 & forward. In order to bring two teams in, they would have to be worth a combined $150 million per year just to keep everyone at the 2025 payout.

Is it worth it to add more teams without an increase in payout? I’m assuming the answer is no, but perhaps there are other factors in play there.

Realistically, I would think the SEC would only do it for an increased payout. 10% seems reasonable.. $7.5 million x 18 teams = $135 million extra

That would mean the two new teams needed to be worth $285 million or more combined.

There are likely only four teams that could bring that kind of value..

Notre Dame
USC
Ohio State
Michigan

One or more of those paired with Clemson and/or Florida State might get there.. but likely not just the two of them by themselves.

Just my opinion.

Please say more of your fanbase is like you and not like a majority of the folks we saw last week. It's always nice to see people who seem to do their research.

That being said, I really hope we don't expand again, because we'll just split off into divisions/"pods" and essentially find ourselve dealing so many that it would a scheduling nightmare. What's the point of having a super conference of 18 or 20 teams if you are only going to see some of those teams every 3 or 4 years? I get the money aspect of it, but damn... 16 is enough

And maybe they'd help the SEC finally get our shite together in basketball. This conference should be so much better on the court.

Well bringing in FSU would be a great big SCREW YOU to the Gators.

And man, that's just WRONG!

To me Tarheels and Virginia would be most advantageous to our Conference. I know it’s not doable. But adding those 2 markets may actually exceed.financially what Tx/ Ok brought , meaning 2 new massive markets- actual new eyeball. Obviously someone will eventually get the biggest prize of all, Norte Dame. But I see them eventually in Big 10, which will probably be named Big 16 by then .

If any acc member leaves before 2036, they forfeit ALL of their TV money until that date. No ACC team is coming before then.

I’d rather add VA TECH & UNC or NC ST. We already have Florida and South Carolina. We need a team from Virginia & NC.

No he isn’t. This doesn’t even deserve to be linked.

He isn’t. He’s an assistant program director for a sports talk radio station that is an ESPN affiliate.

“WYRD, known on-air as "ESPN Upstate", is a sports-formatted radio station in the Greenville-Spartanburg area of Upstate South Carolina.”

I could see them turn Clemson and FSU down now to wait and see what the fallout politically is going to be taking OU and Texas. They don't want to be fighting a war on 2 fronts with commissioners and politicians and lawyers from the left behind schools.

Mickey has the SECN locked up too.

In fact, the SEC owns zero percent of the SECN.

the SEC partnered with ESPN to launch the SEC Network. The SEC doesn't have an ownership stake in the network -- ESPN has full ownership -- but instead negotiated a revenue split with the sports television power.

ESPN and the SEC declined to provide the exact terms of the arrangement, but it is believed to be a little less than a 50/50 split.

Wowzees.

SEC doesn't think Clemson and FSU bring the streaming numbers OU/TX do.

Any word yet from the SEC on the colossal streaming numbers of UVA and North Carolina?
