Texas is already coming, do we want to water down the SEC competition even more with these Big 12 teams?

OU is only team that won't be fighting for a .500 SEC record every year. And I am not sure OU won't end up being a .500 in conference SEC team until they learn that defense does heavily influence long term success.

West Virginia and North Carolina. That's the two you take.

ND to the SEC would be the biggest shocker to me.

Their TV contract with NBC runs thru 2025.

If I was Disney, this is what I would do. Taking schools out of the ACC and moving them to the SEC is just robbing Peter to pay Paul.

IMO it is likely that those teams are not worth $150 million a year, and definitely not worth $285 million per year. Perhaps UNC basketball is worth more than I realize.

That opinion assumes we would not want to take a pay cut to take more teams..

Each school will get $75 million per year in 2025 & beyond..

$150 million / 2 = just to stay where we are

$135 extra for a 10% increase for 18 schools

That narrows down the options a lot.

Clemson without Dabo is Georgia Tech. Dabo is leaving to become Saban’s replacement. A .500 SEC Clemson is a poor investment. Michigan, Notre Dame, USC, Ohio State, and Penn State are the only brands I think that are a forever draw beyond their coach.

UNC clear favorite if 2 more needed after Clem and FSU

Last spot comes down to:

KU
GT
UVA

It makes 0 sense the the SEC would want either of these teams anyways. Neither is a national brand, we already own Florida, and who needs a few rural counties in upstate SC. The SEC has nothing to gain from adding either school.

Agreed. I forgot Penn State. I would think that any expansion would have to include at least 1 of those schools..

Unless the MOUSE wants to overpay.

May as well eliminate GT. I'd like it but they aren't a national brand and there's still probably too much bad blood over them thinking they were too good for the SEC and leaving in the 60s thinking they were the southern version of Notre Dame.

There are likely only four teams that could bring that kind of value..

Notre Dame
USC
Ohio State
Michigan

This plus Penn State. Clemson and FSU do not bring anything that the SEC doesn't already have.

No one is taking West Virginia except the AAC, so best to just forget about that notion.

Do you think those 4 schools bring $300 million per year to the conference? That’s a lot of cheddar that would be needed to keep payouts the same.

Great brands. I agree. Potentially great additions even if the $$ stays the same.

I’m not sure the mouse would want to break up the ACC anyhow.. Doing so pushes schools to the B1G, outside of ESPN.

UNC and UVA. Flagship schools that would also improve the SEC's academic standing. Plus the Charlotte and DMV markets.

Agreed. Oklahoma was a natural fit, has been for a while. I would venture to even say that the SEC wouldn't even get the 11 votes needed to approve FSU and Clemson, even if they brought the viewership numbers to justify it.

Possible no votes:
1. South Carolina
2. Georgia
3. Tennessee
4. Florida
