Agree with everyone. As a resident of Athens GA. 5 Bar is OK but I can think of about 10 places better than that.
Last Resort just to name one.
Born and Raised in Baton Rouge The Chimes?? Really?
Again not horrible either but sheesh. The Chimes?
List is piss poor

list is shite. if in BR, go to Ruffinos, Louisiana Lagniappe, etc. Chimes is fine for game day lunch if its a night game.

For all I've heard about Shakespeare's Pizza, the picture sure doesn't look all that great,

I need to go back, haven't been there since my wedding night.
Definitely recommend it to folks who come in to Lexington for a game and want quality dining.

Hunter Gatherer Brewery and Alehouse (Columbia, SC)
I definitely wouldn't list this as the best restaurant in Columbia. It's a cool place to grab a beer and some eats, but there are better restaurants. Cola's, Motor Supply, Saluda's, etc.

hey nailed Lexington. Merrick Inn is well worth the money.
The restaurant scene in Lexington is pretty incredible for a mid-sized city. Merrick is certainly excellent and a staple in upscale dining, but there are lots of old and new places that are outstanding.
Can never go wrong with Dudley's. New places that are great include Carson's, Corto Lima, Graze, Cole's, Minglewood, and others. Tony's and Jeff Ruby's are supposed to be good, but also very pricey.

A chain BBQ restaurant with like 50+ locations that started out of Alabama is the best food Starkville has to offer?
No. Harvey's is good as it the Smokehouse. Even Little Dewey's is pretty solid.
List is arse.

5 Bar in Athens sucks, just as the one in Tuscaloosa sucks. Overpriced, bland and pretentious.

List is shite. Juban's or GTFO.

The Dixie Chicken has some of the shittiest bar food you could cook up. I honestly have no idea why it keeps getting put on lists like this.

Hermans yes,
Grubbs lmao hell naw. Thats a bar with decent food. It's the college spot or was on Tuesday and Thursdays for $2 you call its.
Penguin Eds is bad as well. Wrights BBQ is the only good BBQ in NWA.
Theos, Bordinos, Catfish Hole, Hermans, Bocca Italian, Arsagas, Pesto Cafe, Feed and Folly and Loafin Joes are some of the best. Plenty more options

I have many great memories of The Chicken from the 80’s, back when you could get a pitcher of Shiner for $3.
Food is not in any of them. It’s not bad food. Just not something I’m going there for.

I would say the Hound is good, Acre is very good (and the best that is walkable from campus), but I think the best of them all is Bow & Arrow (same chef/owner as Acre).
Ugh I don't know any of these places because I'm old as frick!

Moe’s Original BBQ (Starkville, MS)
Didn't the owners start Moe's by selling BBQ at a gas station in Tuscaloosa, before opening their first restaurant in Colorado?
Also, Rama Jama's is good, but Avenue Pub has better burgers.

The writer seems to be on the mizzou beat, most of his stories are about them. This explains why the list is so shitty and out of touch.

I'm not saying this as a smartass but back in the late 90s I went to Starkville to get drunk with friends from high school. They took me to some gas station that sold chicken fingers and all kinds of other fried stuff. Seems like it was close the basketball arena? Served it in a plain brown paper bag. They were outrageous. Sound at all familiar?
