But somewhere along the way, Sooners—and to some extent, RBacks—convinced themselves they were taking the piss outta UTex by flashing the horns down.

The horns down has been used since I can remember dating back to the 60’s. No one ever complained about it until recently. I guess since texas has fallen on hard times it hurts their feelings now and consider it rubbing salt in their wounds.

They have become very soft and it’s a bad look. If they don’t like it, then quit losing.

What about just the middle finger?

Horns down to a player = the finger.

Prepare for the middle finger in T-Town then. Among many other things known to be an irritant to traveling fans.

This rule wasn't implemented until 2019. Texas was also flagged numerous times throughout that game as it was very chippy throughout. Nice try, though.

Not going to give a year? Just every time they've played?

If anything, Texas has been on the wrong side of this when Mike Davis "holstered guns" in 2012 resulting in Texas, not the other team, being flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Does it apply to fans? There are already rules in place against taunting by players and coaches but as far as I know as long as fans stay off the field during the game the worst that can happen is getting tossed out of the stadium or getting your arse whupped. I am OK with either, I'd hate to get UGA a 15 yard penalty LOL...cause Im going to do it the first chance I get in Sanford Stadium and If I decide to travel to Austen next year it will happen before that...

Why are the players feeling so easily hurt ?

Does a hand gesture make it uncomfortable for them to compete ? If so, speaking for all my SEC brethren, we're sorry.

We didn't know your lads were so sensitive.

As a UGA fan we need some clarification on the rules against piss filled balloons. Still OK?

A&M complained to the Big 12 to clamp down on thumbs down on the field.

Thumbs down is not a natural hand gesture…too much effort involved. Horns up is an effortless gesture.

Everyone might hate them, but A&M fans tried to warn everyone. Texas comes in and immediately starts making rules exactly like they said would happen.

We weren't unaware...it is the nature of southerners to overlook ill breeding. We are a welcoming, warm people who will listen to and observe the most outlandish shite imaginable and our only comment will be "bless their heart". That being said ATM was coming from a POV where they also suffer from the same sort of ill mannered upbringing that all Texans suffer from...they are not aware of what awaits Texas in the SEC...they should be, they have won exactly nothing while in the SEC, but like Texans everywhere the truth can't be allowed to get in the way of a good emotional tantrum. ATM watched as Texas destroyed the SWC but it was all Texas and fricking Arkansas LOL. They then watched Texas bully the Big 12. They assumed it was because Texas was a bully and it was, in part, due to that. The bigger part of the equation though was there wasn't another bull in the SWC conference pasture and one small bull in the Big 12 pasture. There are 6 bulls in the SEC pasture and a couple of smaller bulls who are charter members of the SEC. Texas was a huge fish in a small pond by design...they will be a fricking minnow in the ocean that is the SEC. There are already rules against taunting in the SEC. They will apply as always who ever is playing.

Who cares, they can’t throw a flag on 102k fans giving horns down

If they do and they do so in one particular stadium in the conference they will be bombarded with mustard bottles and golf balls...get hit with a titleist from the upper deck or a french's pint and the least of your concerns are going to be someone making a gesture with their hand....

They got their feelings hurt by our narcissistic ex-athletic director and spun a yarn about how Texas tries to control everything that simpletons like you took hook, line, and sinker.

That would be a nice history re-write…. Except that there are several other schools besides A&M that can attest to how poorly the Texas AD behaves.

ADs from Rice, UH, Tech, Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri, Arkansas, Hawaii, Ole Miss, and LSU are just some off the top of my head that have had “experiences”. I’m sure the PAC-10 commissioner from 2011 would have some interesting comments as well.

I think I saw in the fine print that horns down is a penalty but chucking a shoe halfway down the field is now ok. If there is a foot and part of a leg still attached its a 2 point play for your side...

How many down linemen who go to a three point stance will show horns down to the Texas lineman opposite?
