We were a damn pop fly away from joining Florida as only SEC school to win NC in Football, basketball and baseball.

I think Dave will get one before he retires

LSU will celebrate the team in game programs yet wont claim it. Annoying

Naw good try though.

We got 64 football. Go check the NCAA site when you leave the Indian Casino.

We could claim one more if we wanted but 64 is recognized by everyone.

Also, I’m a die-hard OU fan. Who’s to say you’re really an OU fan? Have you been to any games? Did you graduate or attend the university? Or is it because UNC is terrible at football that you need to latch onto someone that is consistently good?

I grew up a huge Billy Sims fan. Went to my first OU game in 1984. Started OU in 1989 and graduated in 1994.

I moved away from Oklahoma after graduation (VA and then NC) but have attended a game about every other year. I have in recent years seen OU play in two playoff games, in Knoxville, in Morgantown twice, in Tuscaloosa, in Lubbock, several OU/TX games and a handful of home games. Obviously I would like to attend more and being in the SEC will help that.

Before I had a child I attending pretty much all OU football watch parties in DC.

As for UNC, I have attended one game and since I work for the university and my wife has a graduate degree from there (undergrad OU) I do passively root for them.

And, sorry, your post blasting OU fans kind of set me off.

And OU was a miracle Danny Manning performance away from joining them as well.

Damn Kansas. We beat them easily twice, won the Big 8, won the Big 8 tournament where we would have beaten them a third time had they been good enough to make the finals.

We had the best basketball team in the country in 1988 with Mooke Blaylock, Stacey King, and Harvey Grant. F’ Danny Manning.

Only Arkansas recognizes 1964. Alabama gets all the 1964 national championship glory.

You have a few years on me. I went to OU from 04-06 and graduated elsewhere. I went to a crap ton of a games from the Gibbs era to most of the Stoops era. You’ve got some experience and deservingly so.

I will call out our fans for saying crap that doesn’t need to be said. Talking crap on LSU and Alabama doesn’t make sense considering recent massive wins over us. Georgia is fine despite the recent loss in the Rose Bowl CFP. Other SEC members is fine.

Bullcrap. You called out OU fans for mentioning the wins over Alabama, Auburn, and Florida. In doing so you provided every single excuse you hear time and time again from SEC fans.

To believe those excuses you would have to believe that SEC teams are snowflakes who can't get up for non-playoff games. I don't believe they are snowflakes. I believe they got beat by the better team in games that were not even competitive (Alabama game aside).

If you want to play the excuses game, how about we talk about how Jason White could barely throw the ball in the LSU game due to injury? How about how we talk about how Dermarco Murray was not able to play against Florida and how, had he been in there, all of those trips inside the ten would have resulted in points and put that game out of reach? Or how about we talk about the key players we were missing against LSU?

I don't like making excuses but you sure as hell jumped on the bandwagon to repeat the SEC excuses.

Almost every time these games are mentioned, it is in response to SEC fans trashing us for losing to the SEC champion. They use words like "boat race" to refer to an 11 point loss to Alabama and a two overtime loss to Georgia, both of which were much closer than our games against Florida and Auburn. We weren't talking trash. We were defending OU. But I've known enough SEC fans to realize that if you don't just accept the superiority of SEC teams over your own team that means you are a trash talker.

I've said over and over again that I don't think we were on the SEC champion level (due to defense) but neither is anyone outside of Alabama year in and year out. When we play good but not SEC champion teams, we more than hold our own.

It's recognized by both the NCAA and SEC.

I've got no dog in this fight but to say that recognition by the NCAA is a joke. NCAA recognizes every single publication that claims a champion including the likes of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, etc. NCAA basically washed their hands clean of the debate and said claim what you want.

Not true at all. Go to NCAA.com and see for yourself.

There were 3 major polls back then and all 3 are recognized.

Try once again.

Lose too much at the Indian Casino and upset?

Once again that isn’t true either.

Check the polls young boy.

I mean OM for example claims 3 but NCAA only recognized one of them. If they gave them to everyone wouldn’t they recognize all 3?

Try again.

I know all about the various selectors. If it’s not AP or UPI, then no championship for you. 1964 Arkansas is #2 in both major polls. Alabama will always be the universally recognized national champion. And there’s no point in calling on the NCAA site. The NCAA will show every selector for each season. It’s just an index. You have ZERO. Deal with it.
