But in that scenario, UGA & the tied schools had the same opponents. This idea eliminates that.

Any way you slice it the powers that be are taking a giant shite on conference traditions. It’s all about the almighty dollar.

I can't wait until there's a three way tie involving Alabama and LSU. This board will be incredible

And back to the nonsensical drama we go. I much prefer the pod to this crap.

I'm hoping Florida as well but that may only happen if they consider travel and tradition as big factors. If they do it by strength of schedule, it'll most likely be Miss State.

Why wouldn't MSU be a perm?

Supposedly what the discussion was would that a sort of top tier and bottom tier of teams would be used when making the permanent rivals. The top would have 2 other top tier permanent rivals and 1 bottom tier rival(bottom would have 2 bottom and 1 top).

If that was the logic then LSU would be paired with Ole Miss for their "bottom" since it's in the historical tier of rivalries the SEC wouldn't break up. A&M(only upper tier for the sake of scheduling) and one of Bama/Florida would probably end up being the top tier rivals for LSU

Is there really any difference to having pods and a 3+6? A 3+6 produces the same schedules pods would, so I don't think it's really accurate for the reports to say "no pods"

pods sound incredibly lame. Call it something manly like divisions or battalions.

3-6 is what is rumored.

Three permanents which leaves 12 teams. Then rotate the other 6. In that way you play home and away against every conference school.

Auburn's permanents would be Bama, UGA and TBD
Bama's would be Auburn, UTe and TBD

I'd love for AU/UF to start playing again but that would be tough for Auburn when they'd already have both Bama and UGA.

It’s stupid moving away from divisions. First traditional rivals are what makes CFB. “Can’t wait to play xxxx next year”. Second having division championships does give teams something to play for after they lose 1 game. Example: LSU would be outside looking in if SEC had 1 division even with 1 sec loss. 3rd the argument about going to each campus every 4 years is bull$hit first time another couple schools (Clemson, UNC, etc) say they’re “ready”. SEC would scrap it all for another couple million.

I agree, just move Aub and Bama to the East and put Mizzou plus OU/Texas in the West.

I would think Ole Miss would have LSU and State for sure and the other would be Arkansas or Vandy

I’m just hoping Aggies have to play Texas every year. Please let it happen!
