Foster Hits 9 3s, Scores 42
Single greatest performance I have ever seen live by a VU player in any sport.

One of my all time memories of grandmother before she passed was me and her listening to Jack Cristil broadcast the Vandy/State game in nashville where Shan Foster took our soul on his senior night (game wasn't on Tv)
He scored 42 points and made 9 threes in a row at one point

Jack Cristil on the broadcast said he's never seen anything like it and he's been broadcasting for 50+ years. Foster was hitting contested, fadeaway 3's from 30 feet out.
Shan Foster could not be stopped by anyone that night it was unreal listening to it while my old new york irish grandmother was dogcussing Foster

Shan Foster unreal

Ok, yes, counting that old crappy conference, but here's a list of Mizzou conference POY winners (going back to the Big 8 days, not earlier):
1. Willie Smith
2. Kim Anderson - yes, the guy who just got fired was actually a pretty dang good basketball player
3. Ricky Frazier
4. Steve Staponovich
5. Doug Smith
6. Doug Smith - he won twice
7. Anothy Peeler
8. Melvin Booker - yes, the one who's kid went to KY, which man, that one really hurt
Mizzou had more POY than any other Big 8 school, including the beakers. Now they won 0 in the Bevo 10 and obviously none in the SEC, so it's been awhile.

Can you believe it? 5 whole years and we only win the SEC 20% of the time.

You didn't win it, you tied for first. Get it right.

This is totally off the top of my head, but of 67 POYs, I will attempt to name (guess) some of them (as I think of them)
Corliss Williamson? Richardson?
Dan Issel
Rick Robey
Tony Delk
Latrell Sprewell
Charles Barkley
Gerald Glass
Johnny Neumann
Alvin Robertson
Tony Houston
Jeff Malone
Dominique Wilkins
Dwayne Schintius ?
Joaquim Noah
Dale Ellis
Kevin Greavey
Kenny 'Sky' Walker
Jamall Mashburn
A.D. 'The Brow'
All I can think of
I think I know most of LSU's:
Pistol Pete
Chris Jackson
Rudy Macklin
Shaquille O'Neal
Glenn 'Big Baby' Davis
Brandon Bass
Stromile Swift
and aforementioned Marcus Thornton
Showing my age

Surprised that State has only two.
I can think of a number of players who could have been POY.
Bailey Howell, Jim Ashmore, Red Stroud, Leland Mitchell, Rickey Brown, Jeff Malone, Greg Carter, Eric Dampier, Mario Austin, Jarvis Varnado

Please, South Carolina will not be embarrassed too badly. Remember, you still have A&M, ole miss, and auburn to make you feel better about yourself.

Oh, so we're the stick up for A&M and Mizzou'ers now are we?
No, let's just make stupid thread after stupid thread to bash them for no reason.
Mizzou had 8 Big 8 POY, more than any other school.

We're still working on that time machine.

Ok, so my whole thread was taken in the wrong way. The point was just to list out the winners by school. I said that about A&M and Mizzou in a joking manner since they have been in the league for only such a short time. People need to grow thicker skin and not get offened so easily. This is why we can't have nice things in life.

Wouldn't it have been fair to note Mizzou's from the Big 8/Big 12 and aTm's from the SWC/Big12? He'll, Arky too for that matter

I'm good, I don't take the ribbing seriously.
Anyway, I couldn't find anything about POY for Mizzou prior to the Big 8. They were a founding member of the original Missouri Valley in 1907, which morphed into the Big 6 to 8 to Bevo.

I was surpised that Tennessee has had so many POYs.
Looking at the list...UT had the POY in the following years:
60's:
'66-67 - Ron Widby
70's:
'71-72 - Mike Edwards
'74-75 - Bernard King
'75-76 - Bernard King
'76-77 - Bernard King/Ernie Grunfield (tie)
80's:
'81-82 - Dale Ellis
'82-83 - Dale Ellis
'86-87 - Tony White
00's:
'02-03 - Ron Slay
'06-07 - Chris Lofton
Easy to see that the mid 70's to early 80's were good for Tennessee basketball...and you can see the slump starting in '87 (just before UT hired Wade Houston). You can define hires that doomed programs for decades...that would be one of them.

I was almost positive that Marquis Daniels from AU in 2003 won it with a crazy Stat line only to find out Keith Boggins won it with a pedestrian 15 and 4 line. Marquis averaged almost 19 PPG 6 rebounds 4 assists and led the league in steals on a team that went to the sweet 16.
