Auburn
Bama
UGA
UF

Don't care after that. Bonus if UT and LSU were somehow annual.

How is this possible? How do you break into pods and guarantee all rivalries will remain.

Think about it: Alabama and Auburn would have to be in a pod together.... but in order to keep UGA-AU and AL-UT as an annual rivalry, you'd have to fill out the pod with those two..... they aren't going to put Bama, Georgia, Auburn, and Tennessee all in the same pod. That's way too tough.

Then what happens to UGA-UF or UT-UF?

I'm against the idea of pods specifically because it will destroy rivalries.

As Auburn fan I would rather we bring back florida. AU/bama/fl/uga would be my choice. I miss the florida game more than TN. Tough division though for sure.

I think it will fall out this way too.

It'd be nice to have Arkansas in the Midsouth pod, but I think the league office will throw A&M a bone by not forcing them to share a pod with Texas.

I'm assuming you still get the 1 permanent rival game, your pod teams, plus 4 rotating teams from the other pods for an 8-game schedule.

Gotta figure some way for the championship game if these don't turn into divisions. Maybe we're heading for a day where there's a conference semi.

you play everyone in your pod + everyone in another pod + one rival/other…rotate which other pod you play every year.

I would LOVE this. We would dominate this pod

Yep. I'm hearing divisions will likely be:

West - OU, Texas, A&M, Arky
South - LSU, Ole Miss, Miss St. Florida
North - Mizzou, Kentucky, Tenn, Vandy
East - Bama, Auburn, UGA, SCAR

So joining the Auburn-Florida in the trash pile of canceled rivalries would be:

Georgia-Florida
Alabama-LSU
Alabama-Ole Miss
Auburn-Miss St.
Alabama-Miss St.

... not to mention "new" rivalries like AU-LSU and UT-UF

Count me out if this is the plan.

If the plan for the new SEC includes destroying literally the oldest rivalry in all of Southern College football, then I think we can punt these two new teams back where they came from and forget about expansion.... heck, can we just go back to the Charter 10?

who said that would be destroyed? Slow down with your melt and broaden your understanding of the potential pod system

If you play everyone in your pod and everyone in another pod, what the frick in the point of pods? Why not just combine those two pods that are playing every year and call it something novel like, I don't know.... a Division.

so you can rotate which other pod you play each year and play everyone in the conference on a regular basis

Again, you are flailing about without even trying to understand

Easiest is to put Bama and AU to SECE with Mizzou/OU/UTX to SECW. That protects the older rivalries and needs no permanent crossdivision games.

PLus, go to 9 SEC games.

So if you are rotating which other pod you play each year, then that means you don't play that "other pod" annually, right?

So unless you can somehow jam Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida all into a 4-team pod... which is impossible.... one or more of the SEC's classic rivalries will cease to exist annually.

There'll be a permanent rival game to keep Auburn/Georgia going, as well as other games like Ole Miss/Vandy, LSU/Arkansas or Florida, Texas/Texas A&M, Kentucky/Tennessee, etc.

Well Texass since we play RRR every year

Then what??

I would take any 2 real SEC teams such as Georgia Florida or Bama ie not interested in Missou( big8) or Aggie ( Big 12) or arky (southwest)

it might be easiest, but it doesn’t solve the issue of not playing half the teams in the same conference more than 2 times per decade. I’d be fine with it, but I doubt that is the direction it goes.

Just reading through all the comments on this topic. What really stands out is this “new” league is going to be a meat grinder every year. Fabulous competition every week! Add one more conference game to get rid of a “patsy” week and buckle up.

Did you not see the + one other/rival in the list of games? Again, you are flailing without considering. Additionally, if you add a 9th game that creates a +2 other/rival possibility.

You are asking easily answered questions that you have the brain power to figure out if you quit being so closed to the idea.

You literally said you play every team in your pod and every team in another pod.... which is now what you are saying is not the case. You are the one that is confused here.
