With the exceptions of both Mississippi schools, I or one of my friends competed for every sec school and basically the same % of acc schools. It is equally enjoyable to root for and against these teams as it relates to my friends. For fricks sake I drove 18 hours to pull for auburn winning a title in my sport.

As for the OP, I cheer for the teams I like, and the teams that help Alabama by winning. That means I almost always cheer for SEC teams in the bowls, unless it is outweighed by severe distaste (e.g., auburn). I almost always cheer for LSU, because I both like them and it helps the conference perception.

Clearly the VCU Rams part of your username is about football right?

The correct logic here is that you should support other SEC teams that are playing UNLESS:
A) They are one of your actual rivals (ie AU, UT, LSU)
B) Their winning negatively impacts your season

The SEC needs to maintain its preferred status nationally and unless teams not named Alabama continue to win big games that will not happen. Therefore doing anything but supporting them is not logical.
