I think this idea will get those stubborn folks back to the table fast. They need the SEC a lot more than the SEC needs them.

Let’s be honest a Big Ten SEC only playoff would give you the natty 9/10 times

And this playoff idea is him giving the middle finger to the NCAA which is amazing. He’s telling Emmert to frick himself.

If the last several years hasn’t shown you the NCAA is not some boogeyman, and not running things, I don’t know what to tell you.

The evil NCAA bit is a tired trope.

Wtf are you talking about? Sankey is ruthless and will stop at nothing to crush the other conferences and ensure they are never competitive with the SEC.

The TV deals he’s secured are historic and record breaking.

Sankey is the shite.
Is Sankey really flipping off the NCAA? Sankey is the head of the NCAA's Transition Committee he's tasked with creating an entirely new NCAA rule book. He met with legislators to discuss NIL 2 weeks ago on behalf of the NCAA.

SI: The SEC Is Getting a New Schedule Model, but Which One Will Win Out?

The conference appears split on a format ahead of welcoming its two new members. We go inside the debate, plus the pros and cons of each.

Why doesn't the SEC go to a 7 game conference schedule? Have three or four 12-0 teams at the end of the season and get 3 teams in the 4 team CFP.

It might also force the elitist Rose Bowl to become more of a team player.

the problem is, the Big 10 doesn't want to do this. They are doing "Texas in the SWC" level shady crap, trying to catch and jump ahead of the SEC.

The SEC is the dominant conference ON THE FIELD, but the Big Ten was the dominant conference regarding stature and prestige, and they desperately want that power back.

For once, I will say thank God for Alabama, because they've given the SEC a Top Tier elite with a lot of leverage, which has helped the conference a lot in these dealings. Otherwise, I think Ohio State and Michigan would have bullied something through before now, to shift the balance of power.

We're seeing cracks in the Big Ten's armor, so I think if the SEC holds firm, things will work out. The conference had a public spat with Nebraska and told them to sit down and STFU, which I don't think went over well in Lincoln. I believe there's at least a small chance that Nebraska defects in the next decade, rejoining OU in the next wave of expansion.
We haven't seen strife of that level in the SEC, unless you count A&M crying about Texas joining.

The Acc has won the natty more than the Big 10 lately. In the last 9 years the Acc has won 3 and the Big 10 has won 1. So it looks like the Acc has been more competitive for championships.

Y’all are all so narrow minded. When he says SEC only that includes teams like USC, clemson, FSU, Oregon. He is about to big dick the rest of CFB if they don’t bend the knee. PAC 12 is going to break up in a few years. There will be two super conferences.

So?

You can't truthfully argue the ACC has been a better conference than the B1G since in the playoff era. The B1G, top to bottom, is the second best conference in CFB.

The problem with the 4 team playoff was that you had 5 big conferences and only 4 spots. Nightmare scenario, 5 12-0 teams, all powerhouses, and you leave one out. Bama, USC, Oklahoma, Clemson, Ohio State.

EXACTLY. WTF creating 4 spots for 5 conference champs?
