Realignment and the future of college football lies in the hands of:
1) The SEC
1A) The B1G

Never forget, the B1G tried to end college football as we know it in August 2020, expecting other conferences to follow their lead. This same conference, once everyone ignored their cancellation and had their season anyways, then played a shortened season and blatantly violated their own rules to get Ohio State into the conference championship game rather than Indiana, simply so Ohio State could make the playoff.

frick the B1G. frick Kevin Warren.

No, they will not lead college football into the future.

No, I didn't say lead. The SEC is leading with the B1G riding our coattails. Sankey is the smartest person in that room.

Get over just another stupid Covid decision (there were thousands) that had zero effect on the SEC.

frick that. Don't defend those yankee greaseballs. Ohio State complained when someone gets in without playing in CCG. Then wants in when the don't play in theirs. Then wants in when they don't play a complete season and want to exclude another team who actually sacked up and did so.

The playoff rules have been bent and twisted more times for the Buckeyes than I can count. frick them and frick thr B1G.

It’s THE Ohio State. They are that important. At least in their minds

I like it. Let's just turn the SEC into NFL lite.

One idea certain to be discussed by SEC officials in Destin is the notion of the SEC creating, running and profiting from its own intra-SEC postseason.

He's upset about the state of things regarding NIL, so apparently he is thinking long term and cares about the future of the sport, at least in that respect.

It wasn’t the NCAA. Pac 12 big10 and acc voted against expansion.

Yep
A couple of weeks ago he said he’s happy with 4 if it stays that way.

Now he’s stating this.

What will it be next?

I’m pretty sure all these other conferences see through his statements.

No shite, they suckered the SEC and OU (and Texas)

Current model- 4 playoff spots, 5 major conferences.

One suggested fix, increase the playoff spots, to allow all 5 champs (plus Notre Dame and a couple more VG teams) a spot.

The fix they seem to have taken:
convince OU (the only Big 12 team to make the playoffs) to jump to the SEC, along with Texas. This neuters the Big 12, removing THEM from the equation.

That leaves 4 spots for 4 conferences.

Don't like SEC only, but I agree and has been my position since B10 tries to control, that SEC holds the cards and we can start our own playoff inviting multiple conferences.

If B10 and ACC want to be on the outside looking in- let 'em. Eventually those marginal conferences that now have a seat at OUR playoff will grow in stature and recruiting at the expense of those conferences.

I'm talking teams like UTSA, Louisiana, Fresno St., Boise St., Memphis, maybe the service academies, Tulsa, So. Miss.... Lots of programs that have potential to blossom if ACC, B10 and PAC want to sit this one out.

OU and UT 1-1/2 years ago, "Greg, you sure the playoffs going to 12 teams? If it stays at 4 or goes to 8, we might as well stay in the Big 12."

Sankey, "Guaranteed."

Oops. This is just a Sankey posturing trick, and Thamel is dumb enough to not see through it or owes Sankey a nugget to publish this.

This will happen eventually. It's inevitable. But I don't see it happening until the SEC expands to at least 24 teams and maybe not until 32.

Then I could see a college "super bowl" with the SEC winner playing the other big conference winner (whatever that turns out to be).

It's only a matter of time. You folks who insisted on a playoff, this is what you asked for, whether you knew it or not.

There were some rumors floating around after OU and Texas joined that the sec was thinking of making its own league similiar to the NFL where all the teams would play in a super conference and the. Have a playoff . More money for everyone.

As a major proponent of playoff expansion I think this is just dumb. Let’s stop kicking the can down the road and just expand to 12 teams already

Wtf are you talking about? Sankey is ruthless and will stop at nothing to crush the other conferences and ensure they are never competitive with the SEC.

The TV deals he’s secured are historic and record breaking.

And this playoff idea is him giving the middle finger to the NCAA which is amazing. He’s telling Emmert to frick himself.

Sankey is the shite.
