Oh wow, Greg Swain pushing A&M to the Big 10 conference is at it again. Look at this take:

quote:

Greg Swain offered a proposed solution on his show on Wednesday.

"Since #Vandy is sadly already grandfathered into the #SEC, and obviously only in it for the money at this point, perhaps the SEC can pay them to go (and stay) independent? There are behind the scenes talk with @ESPN, @FoxSports, the #B1G and #SEC reps about how to dump those schools who bring nothing to the TV table."

Why is he kicking out Vandy? This guy is full of it.

If the SEC dissolves and renames itself the Southern Conference et al then Vandy wouldn't be a founding member.

"But GPA" is no longer relevant.

"But private institution and FOIA" is no longer relevant (never was).

I'm fine with dropping dead weight.

I think schools like Vandy and Stanford and Georgia Tech should form their own league more in the spirit of traditional college football, I might even become a GT fan if that happened.

I don’t want to kick Vandy, but keeping Vandy just for the Nashville market is… lol.

It’s like keeping Ga Tech for Atlanta. No one gives a damn.

Because with streaming on broad-band internet, geographic cable packages don't make sense anymore.

If I lived in the PNW and wanted to watch the Tigers play, I'd just stream it.

Remember when vandy had these provate school emails that were not subject to a FOIA?

They acted like they had nudes on everyone.

I get that.

But if moved to PNW and want to watch the tigers play, I still want regional rivalries.

West Va playing Texas tech moves zero needles for me. But regional conferences make me watch.

If there were seven 12-team leagues again, I’d be interested in an old big east with:

Notre Dame
Miami
VTech
Penn state
Pitt

If it’s SWAIN then it’s no more of a REPORT than you simply making something up. Guy has predicted everything under the Sun that could ever happen and then one option of the 973772 he says actually happens and somehow his followers grow. It’s hilarious.

Me too. I don't like this new model, but it is what it is. I don't even stream. If I can't get it broadcast, I listen on the radio like I used to do with my dad.

If they kick Vandy out, they simply don't want my business anymore.

Anyone “can” but most don’t. TV contracts still rule the roost. The only question I have is if the SEC network is big enough for 16 teams and no CBS game(s). Something has to give. If I miss more than one game, then goodbye youtubeTV. I just watch locals if it isn’t football season anyway.
