SEC/Big 10 pushing for possible 16 team playoff with play-in games for SEC & Big 10.

I guess this play-in game scenario for the playoff change is on the table for the SEC and Big 10 even if it only goes to 14 teams. Having #3 play #6 and #4 play #5 to get in the playoff makes getting in the SECCG a priority but if it was done with 16 teams instead of 14 there will be a lot of noise with the 3 at-large teams not having that extra game.

Pretty dumb to allow an at-large team to skate by while the SEC teams have to play a play-in game.
Why not just have a 64 team invitational at this point?
Maybe at some point this whole shitshow can collapse and we can go back to something like the BCS

Yep I guess their thinking is this has 6 teams in play for the Big 10 and SEC while making it important to get to the conference championship games but if they go to 16 especially it will be a joke with some at large teams getting in over some #5 Big 2 teams. I guess at 14 teams and one at-large bid it wouldn't be as bad but I think they should ditch that idea.

I agree. I could even live with 6 teams, but 12 is way too many, and 16 is ridiculous. It used to be a badge of honor to make the playoffs. Now St. Mary's School for the Deaf makes it in.

I wish they’d give the acc sec big and big 12 one auto bid. Get rid of conference championship games and instead have only 8-12 bowl games that week(depending if you wanted a 12 14 or 16 team playoff) every bowl champ gets invited to the playoff. That way every team is a champ of some sort be it bowl or conference.
