You left off Robert Horry...and he has more NBA Championship rings than all the LSU guys you mentioned combined...
Please tell me there is that much fricking Bama in you boy. I'll buy your redneck arse a beer cause I bet you got some good damn stories

Nope, not a comparison, just correcting the guy I was replying to who said that all Bama had was Reginald King and Latrell Sprewell. Horry wasn't as good as those 3 HOF guys, but he's the only non-Celtic in NBA history to have 7 or more titles, and that's not chopped liver...

I'll remind you of the thread title.

Yep. Robert Horry has been on 7 NBA Championship teams.
Shaquille O'Neal has been on 4.
Bob Pettit has been on 1 (but played for 3 other titles vs Boston).
Wonder though, is Horry one of the "NBA's 50 Greatest Players" (like Pettit, Pete, and Shaq) ??
Has Horry been an 11-time NBA All-Star every year he played (like Pettit)?
Has Horry been one of only TWO players in NBA history to average more than 20 points a game in every season he played (like Pettit) ?

All fair points. It's not like 30 years ago was yesterday, but when we're talking about all-time, you yourself said that's only 30% of their history. So for their first 70% they didn't make the tournament.
Obviously the early part of our basketball history was terrible. I don't know the history of basketball at other SEC schools, but UF didn't hire a full time basketball coach until 1960 with Norm Sloan. It wasn't taken all that seriously.
That said, we've obviously made up for most of it the last 20 or so years.

You left off Glen Davis who also won 1 with Boston...

Nope, nope, and nope. Just pointing out your error in saying Bama had just King and Sprewell when Horry is probably the best player Bama has put out. Here are some of Horry's accomplishments in the NBA:
- 7 championships (most of any who didn't play for the '60's Celtics)
- 1 of 3 players to win consecutive championships with 2 teams
- 1 of 2 players to win on 3 different teams
- Most 3 pointers all-time in the NBA Finals with 56
- Most 3pt field goals made without a miss in the playoffs (7)
- 7 steals (NBA Finals record) in GM2 of the 1995 Finals
- 1st player to have 100 steals, 100 blocks and 100 threes in 1 season
- 9th all time in playoffs 3pt Field Goals made
- Top 15 in steals and blocks in playoffs
- Scored 21 points in 4th/OT in Game 5 of the 2005 NBA Finals (prominent ESPN columnist Bill Simmons said of the performance, "Horry's Game 5 ranks alongside MJ's Game 6 in 1998, Worthy's Game 7 in 1988, Frazier's Game 7 in 1970 and every other clutch Finals performance over the years")
Magic Johnson said Horry was "one of the 10 best clutch players in league history."
He's not a Hall of Famer but the dude could ball...

Reading your Horry talk has me wondering about Little Rock native Derek Fisher. He seemed to play in the league forever and was in a lot of Finals over the years.
Ill have to look him up.
Ill have to look him up.

And multiple coaches reach the Final Four, Elite Eight, Sweet 16, win 30 games, win conference titles, etc.
Arkansas has also had coaches lose 3 or less games and NOT make the NCAA tourney because the team did not win its conference.

Lon Kruger went to the Final Four as well.
At the end of the day, whether we are looking at the last 20 years or the last 100, we still have 2 national titles. When that success occurred doesn't mean all that much, it happened.

The Hogs have had 4 different coaches take us to the Final Four in 3 differnt eras. Arkansas trumps Florida because of the sustained success across many eras and coaches. We have way more tournament invites, a much better win %., many more wins, and more Final Fours. Every expert All-Time BB ranking I have ever seen puts Arkansas above Florida. That said, I have much respect for the Gators program.

That is glossing over the fact that Arkansas has a NC + a Runner up NC. Ya, the 2NC is obviously more impressive but it is by no means a trump card.
Arkansas is still a better program historically, but UF is in striking distance and trends suggest in 5-10 years that will be flipped

The limit in years hurts the #'s for Arkansas.
The 20 year gap with UK and Arkansas was in the early 1900's.
Between 1900 and 1920, teams played an average of like 9-10 games a year. UK played a total of 183 games in that 20 year span.
For UK to still be that far ahead of Arkansas in total wind is mind blowing. You could have gone undefeated from 1900-1920 and the gap would still be huge.

Lots of indistinguishability in there.

Princeton and Yale are the 2 best football programs ever also right?
