TBA has the nicest arena in the conference and a Top 2 atmosphere in my subjective opinion

Bud Walton & Thompson Boling are two of the toughest arenas to play at in the country.

They should be 1a & 1b on this list

Not sure the writer has ever been to Thompson Boling. I would have it at #1 or #2

I can't argue with that. I (un)objectively give the nod to Arkansas on atmosphere, but Tennessee's is real nice looking inside. Bud Walton is showing its age but it's still a nice arena with a really good crowd.

Our team is obviously a laughingstock but stegeman is superior to coleman in just about every conceivable way

Stegeman is better, but that’s not saying much. While they have done some nice things inside over the last 10 years, it’s still very subpar. Nothing would say we are building a new program, like building a new arena….instead of putting lipstick on a pig

Really dislike Tenner (had to spend all day on campus yesterday), but no way TBA below an arena seating <10K.

Tennessee's is really nice with those club seats up top. I wish Arkansas would do that and and put more students down low. Our student section is great.

I went to Knoxville and can concur, it's a nice arena; but the students got kind of screwed on seating. More arenas need to place students all along the baseline instead of tucked away in a corner.

I'd be willing to bet Mizzou Arena would be higher if the program wasn't a pile of dog shite, and attendance wasn't another pile of dog shite, resulting in an ultra shitty atmosphere, bc of the fact our bb coach is shite-on-a-stick.

It seems like the bigger the arena the more the students get screwed. I'm also really not a fan of court side seats at a college game like what Bud Walton has. Jeff Long was really big on creating an NBA atmosphere at Bud Walton, but he damn near crippled the place.

we are spending 35 million on a hump renovation that will move us up a notch or two at best.

we are very poor stewards of our money. that crap is all going to get torn down in 10 years and we will be building a new facility like we should have done 10 years ago.

we are the kings of wasting money.

I love Rupp. It’s going through some major renovations right now too. Something about all the history that’s been played in that arena is cool to me, but others probably don’t care. The crowd atmosphere is great during big games, lesser games it turns into an NBA environment. The pregame hype videos with all the history is really cool

This. I’m a huge proponent of build a new arena downtown Athens but Stegeman isn’t THAT bad (especially with the recent improvements).

It’s better than Coleman and certainly on par with The Hump, The Pete, and Memorial.

Alabama's arena always seems so damn dark in there. It's like watching a game with sunglasses on. Anyone else notice this?

Stegman is old. It was built in the 60s. I may be wrong (and too lazy to research it) but I think it was originally built for the ag department to show off cattle, not for basketball. They had a rodeo there when I was in school. I think that's why it's "U" shaped. There used to be a pen for cattle just outside.
While I would miss it for sentimental reasons (like memories of climbing to the top), the best way for UGA to show they're serious about basketball is to destroy that dinosaur and build a new facility.

I think you’re correct in terms of its initial intent (but it has also held Olympic events and concerts - notably the Allman Bros - over the years.

It’s a fine on-campus venue for WBB and Gymnastics and other non-sporting events that require ample indoor seating. But for what Mens basketball has become nationally, they could build a 9-10k seater as a part of the Classic Center downtown and pack the thing out consistently with its proximity to bars before and after games, alone

Duke does it pretty well. I went to a game at Cameron a few years back. both ends and along one baseline.

While, not on the baseline, Reed has both ends all students. It's not bad. Both sections are very large too.

I lived in downtown Athens for a few months for work in 2020/2021 and an arena in downtown would be really cool. I love how all the bars are right there in one area. I don't know where there is enough space in downtown though for an arena and parking?

It has quite a history. I saw Olympic volleyball there. It's still a right of passage at UGA to climb to the top, although getting around those metal guards is tricky. I had to look it up because I thought someone rode their motorcycle over it. Wikipedia says it was Jake Scott!! I also heard claims that someone flew a plane beneath the roof during construction.
Oh, and the concerts. While in school I saw the Village People, Marshall Tucker, Boston, Heart, and Jimmy Buffet at the Coliseum (it wasn't Stegman back then).
