I could legit see it going to single elimination.

That would only require 8 games to be played through Sunday instead of potentially 14.

Probably the best solution if they struggle completing games today. The weather Friday, Saturday, and Sunday is supposed to be great. But lots of rain today and tomorrow.

The timing is really bad. We’ve barely had any rain the past 2-3 weeks.

We had about a third of an inch through the month in the Bham metro through last Sunday, and that came on May first. It's rained every day since Sunday.

We need the rain before summer after that little mini drought but talk about bad timing for the tournament.

LSU only 19 stolen bases all year?

We don’t steal. I’m really surprised we even have 19

if they only get 1-2 games in today then I agree that they should switch to single elimination.

Last week as I watched my grass get yellower and yellower, I would have bet the farm we'd get a ton of rain the week of the SEC-T.

Surprised at the very least they aren't going the 7 inning route. Can't imagine the coaches would complain.

Would be shocked if they got in 4 games over the next two days

First pitch for AU/KY at 12:45. We’ve had a break in the rain, but a lot can change in 2 hours. Radar does seem to show some clearing.

Here's hoping.

Coming to say the same thing. Just doesn't make sense at this point. We'll be lucky to get 3 games today. We'd need to get 4 tomorrow including potential DHers.

I think a worse solution would be to change from 9 to 7 inning games.

How come? I think 7 inning games are practical right now until Saturday.

There's only 2 games scheduled friday and saturday and 1 Sunday. Still plenty of time to play all of the scheduled games (14 games in 5 days).

Just need to avoid a complete washout today and tomorrow and the format won't need to be drastically altered.

Ex- if we can get in at least 4 games bw today and tomorrow, can plan 4 friday, 4 saturday, and 2 sunday. This wknd is supposed to be nice.

There’s a window to get this one in, but more rain coming. Tomorrow looks like a washout, and the field could have 2-4” of rain on it even if the lightning stops.
4-2-1 Friday, Saturday, and Sunday would be almost as perfect as the weather then.

Lets assume we get 3 in today and the higher seed wins the rest of the way.

Here is what would need to be played tomorrow.

Thursday:

The rest of round 2
UT/Vandy
Auburn/Lsu

The loser's bracket
Alabama/Florida
Vandy/Auburn - doubleheader for both

Friday:

The winner's bracket
A&M/Arkansas
UT/Lsu

The loser's bracket
Florida/Arkansas - doubleheader for Arkansas
Auburn/Lsu - doubleheader for Lsu, Auburn 3rd game in 2 days

Saturday:
A&M/Arkansas
UT/Lsu

Sunday:
A&M/UT

It gets much worse if any of the teams from round 1 advance. This is the last thing you want to do to your conference teams right before regionals.

It's not unusual for conference tournaments to finish on Monday due to weather delays

Idk it’s hard. I don’t want us to play a DH either, but the truth of the matter is this tournament is crucial for our bid to host. If a DH means we get an extra game in, it’s probably worth it
