The approach at the plate is different, but it's a lot of the same players.. striking out in 5-6 pitches instead of 3-4

The polls are very different than seeding because the polls have a lot of recency bias built in.

Thanks, I get the sense that is somewhat the case for Auburn (recency bias in our favor) so that's part of why I was asking what the reality would be.

Auburn is in a really good place right now. The trouble for everyone is that this last weekend of the regular season has a tendency to gum up the works as desperate teams play over their heads and teams that feel safe drop games they shouldn’t. Wouldn’t bank on the picture today being the picture this time next week.

Yeah a few weeks ago I noticed the same thing about the SEC website being slow. As in not hours slow but sometimes days slow to update.

Fire the half-wit and bring in an intern or something, good grief.

It’s been a crazy rollar coaster for the Sooners. One minute they’re good then bad then decent then terrible the play okay again lol not even ranked anymore. Hats off to the conference play.

If OU beats UT today it would be hilarious

They have lost 4 of the last 5 series.. but I agree.. they are dangerous

yet have swept number 5 rpi vandy at their place and of course number 3 rpi Texas and haven't been swept by anyone. At this point I think it's great we're not number one, it's always a curse for us.

Damn Vandy didn’t get to play either USC or A&M and are still in good shape to get a top 4 SEC seed. They deserve a national top 8 seed in that case. SEC really deserves 6 of those top 8 national seeds. Can make a case for all of them:

LSU
Texas
Arkansas
Auburn
Georgia
Vanderbilt

That is a weird way of saying they won 3 of the last 5

Yup. Didn’t play USC or Missouri. But also benefited from playing (and sweeping) Florida and A&M early in the season.

Their series win over Coastal must be keeping them afloat.

They are also in 3rd place in the Sunbelt without any chance of winning it

Yeah and the number one team in the country is third in the SEC and their best outcome is a tie.

Conference standing is an imperfect indicator. Wouldn’t put too much stock into it.

Good point,

And Auburn is ranked 2 in one poll and is in a tie for 4th place in the SEC. It's been a crazy and fun year

Lots of good teams, no great ones

Is your "quad 1 & 2 wins/losses % from RPI? If so, Arkansas is 13-8 instead of 13-11 which would move them up to #5 instead of #15.

Nevermind I see it's some graph that shows quad 1&2 wins vs ALL losses.

I think it’s more that everyone is really really good and there’s just a ton of parity.

This is probably one of the positive effects of NIL. It makes more sense to hang around in college now rather than go to the slog of single A than it did 5 years ago.

Do you think that's it? I mean, I'm not disagreeing with you and please don't construe this as a slam against you as that's absolutely not what I'm intending. I just don't know in baseball if the NIL is that big of a factor versus A ball. I can see that in basketball where the Cooper Flagg's of the world are getting multi-millions in NIL, just not sure what it is in baseball.

I do agree with your first statement, I think a lot of the SEC teams are really, really good and tons of parity. It happens in all sports (well, football not so much, but for sure in basketball) and especially baseball, some days, you can't hit shite and some days that ball looks like a melon coming at you.

I do know this, glad my hogs didn't play Auburn in the back 1/3 of the SEC season, you guys rock.

This is a stat that I calculate based on RPI Quads..

It doesn't tell the whole story though.

Arkansas for example only has 13 Q1/Q2 wins.. which is low compared to others, but it isn't because they have lost a lot of those games.. they simply haven't played in as many as other teams.

But Arkansas has a decent SOS, so maybe their Q4 opponents are better than everyone else's Q4 opponents..

Either way, I think this might be the year Hog gets over the hump. Not because they beat Texas.. I just like their team.

simply saying that all those teams have a bunch of warts..

Auburn has been swept twice.
Florida started 1-11.
Arkansas has lost 4 of the last 5 series.
etc etc

Who gets hot at the right time?
Who has the baseball gods behind them?
Who gets that lucky bounce when they need it most?

College Baseball is wide open this year.. So many teams that can go on a run..

Isn’t it a better way to look at this that you take away the wins against Mizzou and SoCar but have to keep the losses?
