Well, we have to assume they can’t be added until after 2029 season because the conference opponents are already set through that season.

but why?

This just means more lost rivalries, and less playing the teams in your conference. This shite is just becoming regional ball where you only play a select # of teams, unless you make it out of your regional and play at a national event.

Gone are the days of playing fun OOC matchups.

Nice, you get all the original SEC teams in one section(like all the babies who cry about the newcomers) and you can find away to not play them, Then you get this fuzzy feeling likes it 1999.
Myself I wish all the conferences would go back to 1980 when everything wasn't about money. The best team wins and they played in the 15 bowl games. Because we all know now its about giving undeserving team a participation trophy.

This is Clemson trying to get out of going to the real Death Valley next year.

That's what I'm thinking.

If we go something like 18 and 18 in the SEC and B1G, when the new league forms with those 36 teams, it'll sort of be equivalent to the AFC and NFC.

I think if they do go back to divisions, it should be the old East & West formats.

East
North Carolina
Clemson
South Carolina
Georgia
Florida
Tennessee
Alabama
Auburn
Vandy

West
Kentucky
Ole Miss
Miss State
Arkansas
Mizzu
LSU
Oklahoma
Texas
Texas A&M

The point wasn't to segregate original teams from newcomers, but to get all the important rivals into the same division with each other, because with 9-team divisions you would very rarely play teams from the opposite side.

the SEC and B10 would need to be a little bigger than 18 each in order to capture all programs with $$$. Florida State, Miami, Texas Tech, SMU, BYU, WVU, Virginia schools, etc.

The best thing about this scenario is it forces ND to get off their high horse and join a conference......... or they will find themselves in the same status as Ogreon State and Washington State.

I'll be the first to say it...

Adding those two teams to the SEC baseball conference would be insane. Not a single buy week in conference at all... well, except for Mizzou.

The closest college football got to having a good post-season system was 2010. Force the PAC-10 to take two more programs, and the conferences would have been reasonably balanced and regional.

All we needed was an 8 team playoff of the 5 major conference champs, highest ranked other conference champ, and a couple at-large to round it out.

I’m glad A&M isn’t still stuck in the old Big 12, but it would be a hell of a lot better than the mess we have now.

I'd rather have NC State over UNC. I lived in the Raleigh area for a few years and the Wolfpack fanbase is much more SEC-like than the Tarheels. They reminded me a lot of South Carolina fans. Their team may suck and have no future prospects to not suck but they still show up and enjoy the tailgating and overall college football experience.

I agree.

I think the end game isn’t conference expansion, it’s preparing for a seperation. There will be a new div 1 and it’ll probably be 40-50 like minded teams. Once every major player is under one governing body you’ll start to see things like nil and transfer portal reigned in some.

That would damn near give us back the whole Confederacy

Surely we could find someone named Jefferson Davis to the SEC Commissioner.

Clemson brings nothing to the SEC. We should go after one of the Virginia schools.

I thought political leadership in the state of North Carolina said there was no chance they would approve UNC leaving the ACC for any conference without NC State attached ?

It seems wrong to break up the NC four. Wake/Duke/NC/NCSU belong together, and also with UVA and VT really. That core group should stick together.
