Well, fair enough.

The half arse officiating should not be a surprise.

The season is basically only three months long so it would be hard to justify making them full time.

And and and remember when the refs made OUs D sack Arnold 10x?

Does Auburn always have this many excuses when they lose? Was the sun in your eyes? Did we also make you walk uphill both ways to the locker room?

Be better

From start to finish it is 5 months

Then, they could have rules committees and certifications to balance the calls.

It could work out and produce a better product

one missed penalty didn't lose that game. It's not like that play was 4th and 15. 10 sacks and 12 TFL is what lost that game

and I'm sooooooo sure this would be your take if was Bana being screwed.

of course, that would never happen....

I suppose every college football player who collects a wad from NIL could be required to pony up some small percentage to pay these guys to be full time including continuing education and ongoing certification but some deep pessimism in me does not believe even that would stop the postgame gnashing of teeth.

As a Georgia fan, we've beaten Auburn 14 times in the last 15 seasons, so I feel like I would hear plenty of excuses from them.

Auburn has several legit things to bitch about in that game yesterday from an officiating standpoint. The scoop and score taken off the board. The Little Giants play that resulted in the TD. Coleman being mugged almost every time the ball was thrown his direction. Your left tackle holding on a majority of your plays.

They also have plenty of blame on themselves. Huge special teams screw ups. Giving up 10 sacks. Arnold holding the ball way too long. Committing 13 penalties. Atrocious offense on 3rd down. The play calling to not isolate Coleman against weak CBs. All the offensive play calls inside the last two minutes of the game.

Hard pill to swallow for AU folks but one missed penalty didn't lose that game.

Nobody is arguing that. We’re saying that in addition to the scoop & score they called back, the bobbled reception oob that was called a catch, and the multiple uncalled PIs, that the uncalled fake substitution is what lead to the loss.

Yep. Looks like we got away with one there because the rule applies even if you don't substitute, which we didn't. Still applies.

The PI is one of a million PIs that are missed and is irrelevant because Auburn scored a TD on that drive.

The TD called back was the right call when overturned. He never had the ball in control and his but hit the grown before the ball actually came out.

It is a subjective call. The refs said they made sure there were only 11 OU players on the field and that was that.

OU is not required to tell the Auburn defense to cover a wide out. This is ridiculous….

I think Kiffin introduced that play, not OU.

That was one of the most obvious refs in the bag for one team I can recall seeing other than some NFL games.

It was clear from the time they took the AU touchdown off the board until the blatant no pass interference call near the end.

I can only surmise that the conference really really wants two top ranked teams for the red river shootout.

That was really really bad.

Seems like the player asked the line judge if he was legally aligned once he stopped. He should have said, "No, because you're acting as if you're leaving the field."

And yet, OU was penalized for more yards than Auburn. I think the refs were bad, but I don't believe the fix was in.

It’s a moot point because the Auburn coaches were screaming for a timeout, which the deaf refs didn’t give them.
