SummerofGeorge:

With the new Playoff, give the Conference Champions a Spot in the Playoff, records no longer matter. Use strength of Schedule for at large teams (SEC will get wildcard teams in on SOS)

So if you bring in OU and Texas and go to 16. Go to 11 conference Games, drop the OOC games and go to a POD system of 4 teams.

For all the screaming in yelling, if OU and Texas comes in and goes to the West, that means LSU's schedule will have Arkansas, Texas A&M, OU, and Texas and schools like Alabama, Auburn, along with UGA, TENN, etc will be teams we seldom play.

Have 4 team PODS that you play all 3 teams, among the other 3 PODS, you play 2 of the other ones for two years, then rotate 1 off and rotate 1 on, etc, etc.

With this NIL, Football programs are going to want to increase their revenue streams which then are priced into Market value for which more value to the University, Coaches and the players can be provided, etc.

I like it.

SOUTHWEST: Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Missouri
SOUTH-CENTRAL: LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Miss St.

SOUTHEAST: Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Kentucky
SOUTH-CENTRAL: Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Vanderbilt

**10 game SEC schedule with a 7-1-2 format

**Everyone plays everyone in their division, plus the other division (SW plays W-Central... SE plays E-Central). Seven games total.

**Have one annual rival from the other side:
Alabama-LSU
Georgia-Texas
Florida-Oklahoma
Tennessee-Texas A&M
Auburn-Miss St.
S. Carolina-Arkansas
Kentucky-Missouri
Vanderbilt-Ole Miss

**Then everyone would have two rotating opponents each year.

POST-SEASON:

*Seed each division champ 1-4, and let #4 play at #1 and #3 play at #2 on the campus of the higher seed.

Championship would rotate between Atlanta, New Orleans, and Arlington.

If all of this about adding OU/Texas is true (big if), I think that's certainly a big part of it.

Not a bad idea actually. I think you would have to change around someone of those teams. Ex., Alabama would have to choose between Auburn or Tennessee for their permanent crossover opponent. It would still take 8 years to trade home-and-homes with someone out of your division; which is an improvement but still too long.

EDIT: Also, how would you determine who goes to the Championship game with 4 divisions?

The SEC has one vote, one school, it is the reason why Alabama does not get their way. Coach Saban and Alabama wanted a 9 game SEC schedule, but the rest said no. We do not have a 9 game SEC schedule.

If Texas comes, and makes it through the members voting on them coming, they will find that out too.

This pleases me. Watching SEC games in Austin, Norman, Athens, Knoxville and Gainesville in one season could happen.

I don't think you have PODS, you can still use records. So Western Division as the South West POD and South Central POD. In the Eastern Division you can have a North POD and SOUTH POD.

Western Division

SW-POD, OU, Texas, MIZZOU and Arkansas
SC_POD A&M, LSU, Ole Miss and MISS State.

Eastern Division

South_POD, Florida, UGA, South Carolina, UK
North POD, Alabama, Auburn, TENN and Vandy

So LSU plays there POD (3 games) plus the other Western Division POD (4) games and 1 POD from The Eastern Division for 2 years then rotate.

Teams with best records in Each division go to Atlanta.

So with the Eastern Division, the 4 traditional rival games that impact scheduling the most, Bama/Auburn, Auburn/UGA, TENN/Bama and UGA/Florida are all intact.

What about UF-LSU?

I don't like the hypothetical 8 team divisions, so how many conference games do you go to, 9? So 7 Division and 2 from the other division, so that means LSU would see teams every 5th year.

I think you have 2 Divisions each with 2 4-team PODS.

Just go to 11 League games, drop the 12th game so you have 2 open dates

LSU plays its POD, plus other Western Division POD (4 Games) and 1 of the PODS from the East, you can rotate it every year or every 3rd year.

Winners of each Division play in Atlanta.

My favorite game the last 20 years, but in the hierarchy of what are considered the staple of SEC rivalry games, at least from scheduling and what you hear from most fanbases, I think the 4 I laid out are the top 4.

However, I think the LSU/Florida game is actually the best game going year end and year out in the SEC.

That would be 11 conference games though. I'm not too sure the SEC would be behind that. Not too mention it leaves little room for scheduling non-conference opponents in a 12 game schedule.

Well lets be honest, many past OOC games are now in the league.

If you have 2 8 team divisions, maybe have 1 permanent in the other and have 2 teams rotate on and off and have 10 league games like last year.

The only thing about 2 8 team leagues if you don't have more than 1 cross over (staying at 8) is you can go a decade almost without playing some teams., not a fan of that. That means I am in my 50's and I will watch LSU play Auburn, Florida, Bama, etc maybe 4 or 5 times the rest of my life??, assuming lets say I live to my 80's

What's wrong with only playing 9 conference games and playing 3 annually and 6 rotating biannually?

Hmm, I think I like your idea, well done. That would work, have the 4 PODS, you play your POD and 6 teams biannually for 9 league games.

You can find a way to define who the top 2 teams are for Atlanta.

I think that could work :
