Yeah well........they blame us for their "loss of identity" as a program. Apparently, playing us every year is what defined them and when that got taken away, they lost sight of who they were.

Yes, they blame Oklahoma for wanting the Texas game more than the Bugeater game being another reason they spiraled downhill

Osborne’s overuse of Nebraska’s partial qualifier loophole and his overlooking of insidious behavior of his players was disgusting, all in an attempt to beat Switzer’s machine at OU.

Lol Switzer was as dirty as they come. OU fans trying to act high and mighty about Nebraska is ridiculous.

Holy shite I was completely unaware of this. Until I saw this I didn't know how I felt about Frost/Nebraska. This clarifies that issue.

Maintaining their annual game with us wasn't going to forestall their collapse. They were built on a house of cards from the very beginning.
It would have lead to annual arse beatings from which they would have flipped the script to playing us was impeding their path to the CCG and they would have then argued to end the series and focus on winning the North.

Hell I'm not even convinced Nebraska can't be recovered. People yammer about playing in Lincoln, which is a pretty good traditional college football venue with historical value. Kids go play in MN, WI, IA, UT, MI and ID and they've all done, or are doing, better than Nebraska has over the last 20 years. Nebraska doesn't have anybody in charge with a plan to overhaul their entire approach to the modern college football landscape. I think that's their problem.

I think you’re underestimating how much of a loser Scott Frost is. College football is ALL about the head coach. Just look at what Mack Brown has done at UNC.
Scott Frost just got destroyed by Bret Bilemma

Even Texas has sucked for 10 years due to not having a good coach.

It’s all about the head coach.

If Nebraska hired Lane Kiffin, they’d become the second best team in the Big 10 within a few years

That era was when the NCAA got really serious about their selective enforcement Policy. Or as Jerry Tarkanian once quipped "the NCAA was so mad at USC they gave Cleveland State another year of probation."

Matt Campbell would kick arse at Nebraska. I think it would take quite a bit for him to leave ISU.

Yeah amazing what Osborne could do with roids and unlimited rosters
Osborne was dirty but let's not pretend this only applied to NU.

Does anyone remember that Osborne lost like 8 bowl games in a row after the NCAA started testing for PED's

He lost 7 bowl games in a row (pretty shocking), but then won 3 NCs in 4 years including his last year. These days, he would have been fired after the 3rd bowl loss in a row. 95 was the most dominant team I've ever seen (but he had a like a record number of thugs on the team starting with Lawrence Phillips).

Yea because he was able to sign players other teams couldn't.

You do realize this,correct?

I wasn't saying otherwise. Just stating the interesting way things progressed.

They were likely roided up too. I will say they did run the option to perfection though.

1. Partial qualifiers
2. County schollies
3. "Strength and conditioning"
4. Doing things that even Urban at UF didn't do

Osborne would probably win 9 games a year nowadays just like Pelini and Solich.

Dr. Tom is a JoePa level hypocrite. Nebraska was always the "good guys" compared to their Big 8 rival Oklahoma led by Barry Switzer. Nebraska under Dr. Tom was also known for gagging in the big games. So Dr. Tom sold his soul and started bringing in thugs and lowlifes like the Lawrence Phillipses and Christian Peters of the world all while projecting a holier than thou attitude. He didn't win shite until he brought a criminal element to Lincoln.

The story, as I remember it, Frost locked himself in a dorm and Lawerance beat the hell out of the girl. No worries though, he was suspended for a week and was ready for the championship game.

Correct---and then as Nebraska's new head
coach, Frost would play a guy facing felony child
pornography charges.

As an LSU fan I think the best thing Coach Frost ever did was turn away Joe Burrow

Bruh...

If there is even 50% truth to that article, what a complete and utter worthless piece of shite Frost is.

So he was banging Lawrence's snow bunny and hid while she took the arse whipping for him???

What an absolute opposite of a man.

They could no longer take partial qualifiers when the Big 12 formed, largely thanks to Texas.

All of the incoming SWC teams into the BIG XII wanted the Nebraska partial qualifier scam to end. The rest of them just hid behind texsa and let them lead the charge on that, but they all agreed.

Frost was redshirting and wouldn't travel for road games. The girl was LP's ex but Osborne still told Frost to stay away from her. The team returned from playing Michigan St and LP got a call telling him that his ex was at Scott's apartment. LP climbed 3 stories up the side of the building and went through an unlocked window. Frost hid in the closet while he beat the shite out of the girl, dragged her down 3 flights of stairs by her hair, and then slammed her face into a mailbox.
