This is what happens when the NCAA was too spineless to try and set up guidelines.
It is now the Wild West. With varying state rules and not enough clear direction, this is only going to get worse. Get a good class and everyone is going to "know" you are dirty. That perception alone will justify other teams being even more shady.
How long until teams like Texas or someone begin "investigating" rival schools etc?
I can't think anyone really wanted to go down this road, but the NCAA was too paralyzed to even try and avert this.

You'd think the Aggies would have learned not to go all Hugh Freeze and at least ease into it.

Rumor around here is Texas is one of the schools being investigated by the NCAA, our first rule breaker since the school set up their OL pay system, any of you guys hearing what other schools are being investigated?
Maybe the NCAA should write a bylaw or something. I mean, how far behind can you actually get before deciding the kids are breaking the rules?

Absolutely nothing will come of this
you can bet something will come from this, if it's only specific regulations dealing with NIL. The courts ruled college athletes can market their name, image, and likeness. Booster payments for the sake of recruiting players to a program is still not allowed. The NCAA, like it or not, was formed because member institutions knew that all would need to operate according to agreed upon rules, or it won't work. This will take some time to work out. The end game, if the member institutions don't work together (they will) is probably NFL minor league.

I am old, but I am ready for an NFL minor league. Do kids even pretend to care about the education and university quality any longer?

Yeah...it really does. NIL's been around less than a year, and if he was referring to Alabama, the institution, paying players, it's worse.

I think it varies from state to state, I mean I’m sure someone here knows the in and outs of NIL in a nutshell and can update us
Just google it...plenty of websites have broken down different parts of the NIL rules.

Should be. Apparently they are offering NIL deals to kids to transfer there. How did no one see this coming.

Ultimately that contract is between the NIL entity and the athlete.Im not sure how staff can "make sure" those kids pay taxes.
Easily. Universities providing tax preparatiom help to students is nothing new. I've both used and worked in an SEC university tax clinic for students.
Student loans, scholarships, etc. can get complicated tax-wise, and most major universities already offer services to students to help them get their taxes right. So just have have an NIL Tax compliance officer, and require every athlete with an NIL deal to meet with them regularly. It's really no different than the tax help already offered to students at pretty much any major university, just need one person specifically focused on NIL deals.

DAMN! We must have a butt-load of dimocrats around here! People who make (and favor) these type of rulings can't see past their fricking noses! Bleeding hearts want to give everybody everything, but don't stop to think about the ramifications of doing it!....so we can ALL watch the game as we knew it, go right down the shitter.

#Breaking: Per NIL source, Texas A&M, OU, and Florida are amongst the first schools undergoing investigation due to NIL rules being broken. #Big12 #SEC
Well this is awkward for you...

When did they start investigating Will Wade?
Investigations don't mean dick anymore and everyone with half a brain knows it. Let them investigate all they want.

NCAA investigating anybody is a joke. They need to just close shop.

Anyone find it odd that t.u's two biggest rivals are being investaged?
This feels like the old t.u from the SWC when they got tired of being whipped by A&M and SMU
All the while its been pubicly known that every SWC was "cheating" back then
