Good for him. Of all the opposing coaches in the SEC. I would say he is the most beloved.

It’s always good to see people make changes for their health and quality of life. Takes discipline. He looks a lot better. Good for Pit Boss.

Extremely low carb diet and/or lengthy fasting.

Lengthy fasting is good for the heart but bad for the blood sugar. You need some carbs as that is how the human body is set up, just not too much. Fasting is no good for your body. Need very small meals throughout the day. Also, better to take a few pounds off a month over the long haul than to drop weight fast and put it all back on (and more) later on.

enough money to have gastric bypass surgery.

From the looks of it, he's earning this the hard way. Gastric causes some folks to lose weight so fast that the skin sags and starts to look like the frame and mass don't match.

I don't know what nutrition regimen Pittman has been on, but he's been on a slow & gradual weight loss for well over a year. He'd already lost noticeable weight last this time last year. He's said he's more cognizant of what he eats and walks around 3 miles/day in addition to light weight training.

I commend him, he took responsibility of this health. I've never understood why coaches balloon up and walk around morbidly obese when they have access to top of the line nutritionist, trainers, dietitians and facilities?

Stress and anxiety?

Seriously, imagine the stress of being an SEC football coach!

I don’t know what his diet is. But he and Odom walk on campus every day that they’re in town (usually multiple times). John McDonnell And Nolan Richardson used to walk and talk shop. Not bad company to be in and walkin’ On The Hill has done a lot for Sam over time since he arrived.

He's made great strides but don't crown his fat arse just yet. His belt folds over forward because of his gut. That qualifies as overweight in my book.

Wow, he pulled a reverse Bert and that transformation is unreal.

When he was hired he said now he’d have to lose weight, I forgot how big he was. Great job….

Did he have surgery?
Nope. He is on about month 17 or 18 of his new lifestyle diet. Everything is through the team nutritionist.
