How you feel is irrelevant though.

Campus is a couple of miles north of downtown, right next to the stadium where we have owned your school for a century plus.

LSU is surprisingly safe considering a part of the campus near a rough spot

Even the Bottom (North Gate to downtown / Beauregard Town), though bad, is more poor than bad. Bad up near Southern east to areas near Airline and Plank.

Agree. My daughter goes to Arkansas and it is a very clean and safe campus. Fayetteville is a hidden gem in the SEC.

No fricking way lsu is safer than Arky and A&M

Universities are required by Federal Law due to Cleary Act signed in 1990 by Bush 1. It requires all Schools to report Crime on Campus and areas off campus that are affiliated with the University such as areas advertised as Off-Campus University Housing, etc.

I am near the campus pretty much every day and LSU PD is a good Police force. So campus is in fact safe, that does not mean areas between LSU and say Downtown Baton Rouge not associated with LSU don't have crime problems. LSU PD has 60 or so Police officers that University employees whose only job is to Police the LSU campus.

The University of Arkansas Little Rock is the only campus I've been worried about walking at night. And that was less "University" and more "Little Rock".

Cities with high crime rates can be extraordinarily safe in some areas and have murder rates similar to Central America in others.

Birmingham for instance you could have a house over the mountain and be in one of the safest places in America or be on the northwest side and live in mortal danger at almost anytime of day.

I think the trick here is how campus areas are defined and the extent to which campus police and local DAs punish crime.

Tuscaloosa south is dangerous, Tuscaloosa near campus is extremely safe.

Why because it’s a black neighborhood? If it’s so bad why white people park their cars there during football season?

I know. But Little Rock has a history of bucking that maxim. There are bad parts of town for sure, but they're interspersed with the good parts so that it spills over everywhere.

Did the homeless encampment in Austin produce these rankings?

If Kentucky is third from last then yall must have extremely safe campuses. Lexington is about as safe as a city can get. Walking around campus...Zero danger. And you're a short walk to downtown bars and restaurants, which again....pretty damn safe for a city of its size. The two bad parts of town (Georgetown Rd and Winburn) aren't remotely close to campus. Not sure how or why we got rated where we did. There is ZERO chance that LSU in Baton Rouge is safer.

I know where the campus is - it is in the middle of the garbage strewn downtown area of Austin. I’m there once a quarter

The rankings are based on campus safety, how hard is that for people to figure out. It is not talking about crime rates in the cities where the now 16 SEC Universities are located.

A Universities safety is largely associated with how effective the Campus PD is in doing its job.

That’s funny. Trumpers don’t give a damn what old Fishmouth does. Rape, tax fraud, stealing top secret nuclear documents and storing them in bathrooms, paying off porn stars, fake electors, taking money from foreign governments, praising dictators and saying he will become one if elected, being a dead beat who doesn’t pay his bills, being a world class grifter and con man who convinces uneducated hard working people to send him money, making masks and vaccines a political issue causing hundreds of thousands of Covid deaths, stirring up hate and division, trying to steal votes in Georgia and other states and starting an insurrection where police are beaten for hours while he sits in his dining room eating cheeseburgers and drinking Diet Coke. Four separate felony indictments, 91 felony charges and twice impeached. His own fellow GOP insiders finally telling the truth under oath about him.
And the Republicans say “okay with me.” What’s wrong with you people? Are you this stupid or has the cult totally taken over your mind and sense of morality?
I could go on and on but I’m getting tired of typing. This narcissistic con man is incredibly dangerous. If that isn’t enough he is obviously having mental issues. He has never run against Obama, Nikki Haley is not Nancy Pelosi and was not in charge of security on Jan 6, WW2 isn’t about to happen, and as for the rest of his word salad and bumbling speech no one knows what the hell this pathological liar is talking about. He’s obviously having mental issues and should be no where near the White House again.

Yeah, let’s completely forget about the fact that LSU had a student that was shot dead in an unsolved cold case and another that was gangbanged by 4 guys in a car. Really intelligent putting that school near the top in terms of safety.
