On if he is surprised when outsiders question how he manages certain situations within the program...

"I don’t really … I haven’t heard anything in terms of what I’m being challenged on. But I’m sure that I am, but I would really rather not know. Because everybody’s got the right to their opinion, whatever it is, what should or shouldn’t be done. I kind of have my opinion based on the experience through the years, and we have an opinion as a staff as to what’s best to build our team and improve our team. Just like I got asked on Monday like I should, we should not play Tua in this game. Well if we didn’t play Tua in this game we’d be sending a message to every good player that we have that they shouldn’t play in the game. So eventually why should we even play? Why not just forfeit so nobody gets hurt. Take a loss, just be done with it. Or is it an opportunity for everybody to improve and grow, and challenge themselves to get better, so we go out and execute as a team and build a little momentum through the week and the game, so maybe we play better in the next game. So that’s what I believe. So it really doesn’t matter what anybody else thinks. They have the right to work like I’ve worked for 40-some years as a coach and get a job and have their own team. And they can make any decision that they want. I tell the assistants that all the time. You want to do it that way, you get a head job and you do it that way. But right now this is the way we’re going to do it.

"So is it the fans’ question or you? That would be my question. I don’t know of any outside noise. I don’t have internet, I don’t have Twitter, I don’t read the paper. So I don’t know, you have to be more specific. So is there something specific? I should have asked that to start with but I really don’t care.

I said it on the Bama board and I'll say it here: Anyone who thought him sitting Tua out was a possibility just doesn't pay attention.

Stallings said the same thing at Bama.

SID told me that Gene would yell down the hall at him every Monday morning during the season, though, about crap reporters were writing.

They may say that, which is smart, but in reality, yeah.

You are right. We all should remember his neglect for players at Miami.

Or you should do your homework and see where there is a different version of the story than the one Heath Evans likes to tell.

quote:

After the interview, Taylor corroborated Saban’s version of events. “He cared deeply for his players. That’s why hearing the Heath Evans/Jeno James story bothers me,” Taylor said. “I was with Nick and Jeno and a handful of other players after the fact. But it did not happen the way it was reported. That’s not true.”

Jason Taylor says Heath Evans is an FOS POS (in so many words)

From same article, let's address the ever popular "I will not be the Alabama coach" story.

quote:

But while his departure was a surprise for many Dolphins fans, it wasn’t much of one for the leaders in the locker room. Former star defensive end Jason Taylor, who appears for an hour every Monday on LeBatard’s show, participated in the Saban interview and revealed that Saban confided in him and other leaders about leaving for Alabama or staying with the Dolphins at the end of the 2006 season, which the Dolphins finished 6-10.

“We understood that that train was coming down the track,” Taylor said of Saban leaving. “From day 1 he was up front with some guys in talking about it, kinda getting their feelings. I spoke with him at length about it on several different occasions up until the 12th hour when he finally made the decision to go. I was on the phone with him late that night.”

This doesn't fit the narrative, so it will be promptly ignored.

Never underestimate the power of delusion in a large group of people to stick to an obviously false narrative.

I think that's a super philosophy, Nick. That way you can go through your entire life without ever having to really know anyone.

You know what, I don't even think he is lying.............

He just has staff bring him the most important stuff printed out on paper and looks at it. So TECHNICALLY he isn't reading the internet or newspaper, he's reading memos from his staff.

Goddammit, why can't we hire an HC who thinks like this.

Enjoy him while you've got him, Tidesters. He's truly one in a million.

So am I supposed to believe he doesn't own an iphone with internet capabilities?

I mean some of the stuff he says is just unnecessary. We get it Saban; you're an amazing coach. But you don't live in the 1950s

Nothing he says is unnecessary to him, you and I just don't know what necessity he thinks he is filling by saying it.

I mean him saying he doesn't have the internet is a lie. Let's just call it what it is. He may not look at it often or use it daily, but he has internet

Because he is the only one. Not one in a million. Just singular. Just like Bear was. No other coaches have shown the ability to adapt the way those have. To go from a lockdown, hope we can make a touchdown team in 08 to threatening scoring records in 10 years is amazing.
