Not historically. Tennessee has had their moments.

Alabama has just dominated that rivalry a bit over the recent years.

Tennessee has won 10 games since 1995 and Alabama has won 11.

That's funny, because no one has beaten Bama more than the Vols and we had the series within a few wins before our slide started in the mid 00s. Not to mention we beat them 9/11 times from 95-06

It has been a streaky series, but UT has never beaten Bama 9 times in a row, and this is the second time in my life for Bama to have a 9 game winning streak vs UT.UT's longest streak is 7.

History is great and all, but you know, I know, the State knows, the world knows, and the good Lord himself knows, Bama/AU is THE game. Not the continuous rivalry between TN/UA. It is what it is.

Why did the best coach in Bama history say otherwise then? And why is the whole conference schedule predicated on TSIO? Beats me

No doubt it's huge. Now auburn is, was and always will be THE game I have to have but seeing that orange and crimson down on the field together for so many years, that's just college football. It's like auburn, the heart beats a little faster, you're nervous as hell and it just means more to beat UT. I love the game but dam, that and Auburn make me nervous wrecks.

Cause they are similar when it comes to being the in-state little bro. Aggies hate that the tx/ou game is the top rivalry to the Big 12, and Auburn hates TSIO is the most important to the SEC.

Really.

Coach Bryant broke his arm in a game against Coach Neyland's Vols.

It was always the biggest game to him, and Coach Neyland as well.

"Between 1971 and 1981, Alabama held an eleven-game winning streak over the Volunteers and between 1986 and 1994, a nine-game unbeaten streak. However, following Alabama's streak, Tennessee responded with a seven-game winning streak from 1995 to 2001. Alabama has won the last 9 meeting as of 2015, and 6 out of the last 9 meeting have been consecutive blowouts. Alabama currently holds 52–38–7, 53–37–8 on the field in the series.[9]

Alabama and Tennessee both have 12 shutouts in the series.

Victory cigars

In the 1950s, Jim Goostree, the head trainer for Alabama, began another tradition as he began handing out cigars following a victory over the Volunteers.[11] Both teams continued the tradition for some time, though kept it secret due to NCAA rules concerning extra benefits and tobacco products. Alabama publicly restarted the tradition in 2005, though as a result, self-reported an NCAA violation.[12] Every year since 2005, the winning team knowingly violates the NCAA rule and reports the violation in honor of tradition."

Bammer and Tennessee are the most successful teams over time in the SEC.

UT put the worst loss ever on Bammer at Legion Field 41-14 in 1995.

The 1993 game ended in a 17-17 tie. Bammer later forfeited this game.

Dales Jone INT in 1985:

Dale Jones INT

Seems like it was 2003 when UT converted a 4th and 19 in overtime to win that game.

When UT finally beats Alabama, it will be Armageddon.

If poisoning trees and murder are reactions of the fanbase after losing to a not so big a rival like Auburn, I cannot imagine what the fanbase might do if they lost to a real rival.
