I don’t expect him to stay. I think it would actually be pretty awkward if he did.

Well that's simply not true. Ridley and Hardman were better in 18 than they were in 17. Godwin/Wims/iMac were gone after that year.

That's not to say Coley is a shite coach, but let's at least be intellectually honest about things. WR play took a hit because our leading returning receiver was a guy with like 20 career catches (Simmons) in 19. Between draft attrition and Holloman dismissal, we weren't in a good spot.

With that said, I'm not yet sold on Hankton as a coach, but given the last 2 years of WR recruiting, it would seem we're trending the right direction on the *talent* side of the equation at the position.

Jimbo offered coley the OC job back when he was hired at a&m. Jimbo is getting his guy and probably paying him less. That is good for jimbo

Great recruiter and should be solid as a TE coach. Unfortunately he was just promoted to a position for which he was ill-prepared at UGA. He'll be a damn good hire for TAMU.

Coley developed guys into big time players out of nowhere.

See Javon Wims. Jeremiah Holloman broke out in 2018 but Coley was the one who developed him.

That’s what Hankton is not doing, we haven’t had a guy burst on the scene.

so James gets excused for the lack of production in 2019, a unit he coordinated? And of course, all the praise pre-19? Despite our raw talent being laughably worse? Stupid comparison.

Did you even see what I posted? He is a bad OC but an elite WR/TE coach and recruiter.

He was WR coach 16-17, and OC/QB 18-19.

He is clearly a good WR coach.

Have you seen George Pickens, Lawrence Cager, and Dom Blaylock?
Where were they in 2018?

He was a 5th year senior, Hankton did very little if any to develop him

My point is that Coley develops players. Javon Wims and Jeremiah Holloman came out of nowhere.

They were high schoolers and performed better than players who spent 2 years with Coley (Simmons).
Blaylock was a 4star by the way.
Miami fans were happy to get rid of Cager

Kirby isn’t fricking around with stale offense. In the last 72 hours Kirby has hired Todd Monken to be the OC/playcaller that has two decades of wide open offenses and extensive experience in pro and college game as well as head coaching experience. He has also hired Buster Faulkner who also has extensive experience as a playcaller and OC to be an analyst.

Coley was given a new title as a way to save face and try to keep him - Coley is an ACE of a recruiter especially in South Florida.

Kirby isn’t fricking around because UGA got 4 stud receivers in the 2020 class to go with rising stud Sophmore George Pickens and also Blalock. Grad dual threat QB Jamie Newman, Carson Beck(Fr) and about to take commitment for #1 ranked 2021 QB in the land in Blake Vandagriff.

This shite is about to change.
