Auburn banking 100% on a pure offensive coach.

That's a change

Yea, we'll see. I'm not completely sold on his as a head coach, especially not at a place outside of Alabama. He might be great, I don't know.

I'd feel pretty good about him at Alabama keeping the wheels moving for 3-4 years at the very least, though. But going somewhere else, I dunno.

George, any idea if he called plays at his other stops as HC?

Good, maybe he’ll run that TE sweep to perfection on the Plains.

Almost positive he's always called his own plays. Know he did at Washington (Nuss was his OC for most of his time there and we actually hired him from Sark) and almost positive he did at USC.

all of the WRs are 3 or 4 stars.

Last year he had Jerry Jeudy 5 star , Ruggs, Devonta and Waddle were all high 4 star. Billingsly, Metchie and Javon Baker were also 4 star. All of them except Baker were here or already committed when Sarkisian arrived back from the Falcons. Slade Bolden is the lone 3 star receiver that gets much playing time

I’m hoping Bama offers him another raise to 3mil if we can. He’s worth every penny. It’s a lot of money and none of the stress of beings HC.

Whats the best offense to run when your team has 9 Tight Ends and 2 Offensive Linemen?

Napier would be a better hire.

I like Napier a lot. But he was fired from Clemson after his 2nd year as OC. He then went to Bama as WR coach. When the OC position came open, he didn't get the job there. I mean that doesn't mean he wouldn't be a good HC, but it does give me pause.

Freeze would be better too but for some reason Auburn is acting like they have morals now for some reason

I don't understand how people don't know that Gus and Freeze are like BEST friends (at least when it comes to coaching friends). Freeze and Gus run similar offenses and I've heard Gus say he and Freeze talk ball all the time.

While I think Freeze is a good coach, I think his ties to Gus hurt him a bit when it comes to AU. I think AU people want to make a clean cut with Gus, his offense, and his disciples. (I wouldn't call Freeze a disciple, to be fair, maybe more like a cohort or co-inventor -- at least when it comes to introducing the offense to the SEC). Freeze came into the league in 2012 and Gus in 2013. Gus had been running the HUNH since his HS coaching days and wrote a book on it. Freeze was also a HS coach (not sure how long he ran the HUNH).

Chip Kelly (and a couple others) were running it at the P5 level before Freeze and Gus. But Freeze/Gus were the first in the SEC.

Make of it what you will.

Sarkisian knows it will be a suicide job! Not worth risking his OC at Alabama. Might be best for him to stay put and be happy and not get back on the bottle.

I don’t hope that happens, but I’m afraid it will. He hasn’t been in the pressure of a HC position since he got canned for hitting the sauce and to be perfectly honest, I could see the Auburn job being one that drives a person to drinking naturally anyway. Hope I’m wrong cause I like the guy though.

but his offensive teaching and scheming is absolutely elite. Anyone who actually watches him call a game and watches the things we do and the way he schemes teams into and out of coverages we want would realize that.

I haven't watched much of bama this year. I did watch most of the SECCG though. That really stood out to me. He called a tremendous game and he can get receivers open.

I don't know if he will be the next Auburn HC or not......but dude can flat out call a game.

He is the best play caller I have ever seen at Bama. Our offense was good when he took over, but it is even better now, and has gotten better every year under him. He is my favorite of all of Saban assistants and I really hope Auburn doesn't choose him.
