Add:

Florida
Jim Morrison and the Doors (Jim was from Melbourne)
Sister Hazel (Gainesville)
Dicky Betts (of Allman Brothers fame but from south FL)

Texas
Stevie Ray Vaughan (GOAT) and Double Trouble
Steve Miller Band (moved to TX when 7)

Would also mention that while Skynyrd (GOAT) was from Jacksonville, they eventually had members from several states. Steve Gaines was born in MO but grew up in OK (I think), Artimus was from KY, and one of the Honketts was from MS.

Stretch Armstrong for South Carolina

They’re recent in the scope of rock but the guy that produced an album I did session work on is a UGA grad, the group he’s in is Cartel. I’m not a big pop punk guy but they have genuinely catchy stuff that made it to like ~#32 or so on the Hot 100 in like 2006 and they had a song on the madden 07 soundtrack I think (mighta been 06). Yeah but a real cool guy and a big dawg fan, we still exchange tweets about the game around the time it happens.

I've heard of only 9 of 63. Granted, there's probably a handful more that I would recognize their "one hit" but don't know their name.

You lost all your credibility by naming 5 nobodys from Missouri, but leaving off Chuck Berry, who is probably the most important pioneer of rock n roll.

The chick in the pink hotpants in the Tbirds video for "Tough Enough" gave me a woody that lasted well over 4 hours back in the day.

Man, I probably saw these dudes 20 times between 1998 and 2005.

Their first 2 cds are absolute fire.

For Alabama you need to add Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Drive By Truckers, and Alabama Shakes.

Give you bonus points for Dexateens though
