re: Rock groups of the Southeastern Conference
I know they're a Christian band but Third Day (from GA) could be on the list as well. Mac Powell is an amazing vocalist.

Would also mention that while Skynyrd (GOAT) was from Jacksonville, they eventually had members from several states. Steve Gaines was born in MO but grew up in OK (I think), Artimus was from KY, and one of the Honketts was from MS.

Leslie Hawkins, is from my town.

Patterson Hood, and Mike Cooley, the founders are from the Muscle Shoals area of North Alabama, as are Jason Isbell and Shonda Tucker, two former members. Pretty sure David Hicks and Rob Malone are from Alabama also.

Have you never Southern Rock Opera’d breaux?

That's nice but DBT was formed in Athens GA so they are GA band. Zero members of Widespread Panic are from GA but they are an Athens GA band and same goes for the Allmans but they are a Macon GA band.

Yeah, as Ronnie Hawkins backup band, but they were years away from being "The Band" then. They hadn't even joined Dylan for his first electric tour yet.

Nope.

When The Allman Brothers Band came to fruition, they weren't of any place in particular, but set up shop in Macon once they accumulated all the pieces - Greg from L.A., Duane from Muscle Shoals, Jaimoe from Memphis & Dickey and Berry from Florida.

Jacksonville can take credit for the Allman Joys, but not ABB.

If we're talking true Southern Rock stuff, add...

Ozark Mountain Daredevils (Springfield) - "If you Wanna Get To Heaven"
Jeremiah Johnson (St. Louis) - "Southern Drawl"
Missouri (Kansas City) - "Movin' On"
Brewer & Shipley (Kansas City) - "One Toke Over The Line"

If we're talking the entire scope of rock...

-mic drop-
