Cage the Elephant, Days of the New, and My Morning Jacket (and more specifically Jim James) are all from Kentucky.

If they played at Coolidge inauguration they don't count.

How about The Band..played in Fayetteville regularly back in the day

I’ll get reamed for this but The Band was 1 Southern boy (Levon) and a bunch of Canadians and New Yorkers. But since Levon was lead singer on their greatest hits, you get a pass.

The Band is a reach. The Hawks are probably more appropriately attributed to Arkansas.

The term "group" really hinders Mississippi in this thread. Sad that I can't include Elvis, BB King, or Robert Johnson

DOTN are from Southern Indiana, they played a ton of gigs in Louisville. Obviously Tantric as well. I suppose we adopted them but in the interest of fairness and all that jazz...

KENTUCKY
Cage the Elephant
Black Stone Cherry
My Morning Jacket
Exile
Wax Fang
VHS or Beta
Flaw
Drummers for 311 and Wilco
Bassist for Five Finger Death Punch

Thats probably the list the average Joe would know.

Texas needs to have The Toadies, Pantera, and of course The Butthole Surfers.

re: Rock groups of the Southeastern Conference
Dixie Dregs were/are a great band!!!

MS has a ton of individual stars (Country, Blues, Rock etc.) and maybe not as many groups.

North MS All Stars
House Rockers
3 Doors Down

Individually speaking, Paul Davis, Steve Forbert, Elvis, Jimmie Rodgers, Jimmie Buffett, Faith Hill, George Cummings (Dr. Hook), Haley Williams (Paramore), David Ruffin (Temptations), Jimmy Ruffin, Mac McNally, BB King, Muddy Waters, Charlie Pride, Conway Twitty, Tammy Wynette, Al Wilson, Paul Overstreet, Parker McGee, Marty Stuart and on.

If I could give you multiple downvotes I would. Your list is terrible.

You left off the best band from Georgia.....Drivin n Cryin

Matthew Sweet would make my list out of Athens via Nebraska.

re: Rock groups of the Southeastern Conference
Not rock but:

Soul Miner's Daughter (went to school with Jennifer Nettles)
Sugarland (current group with Jennifer Nettles)

& a far stretch, but my parent's house was 2 doors down from Maureen ("Moe") Tucker (drummer for Velvet Underground).

Left off Evanescence for Arkansas.

Why does Texas get Pantera? Phil is from New Orleans.
