I keep seeing LSU fans coping by saying this is a rebuilding year.
Are they aware this no longer exists in the NIL era?
CFB rosters are now built and rebuilt on a yearly basis. You either build a good roster or you don’t, and whether you do or you don’t, you’ll still be scrambling to reload it next year.
Fans of blue bloods are having a really hard time with this new reality.

That’s not how it works anymore, you’re not paying $50 million on a roster for future success. You spent that on this year, and it starts all over again next year.

It's more excuse and cope.
They spent 50 million on a one-year roster. Those players can transfer next season and many of the key ones are only one year rentals.
You spend that kind of money on a roster and over 100 million on a coaching staff because you expect immediate results and success

Depends on the program. But mid-tier schools are def rebuilds sometimes.

It’s a rebuilding year when they are losing.
They were national champions before any SEC games were played. The narrative should be whatever helps lsu cope with reality.

This is not a rebuild year. LSu will be fine.
I was there Saturday. For LSU to win that game would have been huge but the stadium was electric. It would have been a huge task. That being said,
Levitt left some opportunities on the field to say the least. I don’t know if it was scheme or execution but we needed to play near perfect on the road in that environment and we absolutely did not.
Chambliss is great. Really Great.

It's their weakest cope, but not my favorite. My favorite LSU cope is this..."It was their superbowl"

Every team every year develops without it being a rebuild. It was game 3 against a really fricking good Ole Miss team. If we suck and have no chance at anything shouldn’t you have beaten us by more?

This is why Saban is lobbying so hard for the law that limits player transfers. If LSU can lock these players in for 2-3 years the investment might actually work out. But when players have the power, you need to win from year 1.

It’s dumb. These are professional athletes. If you can’t walk onto the field and perform at a the highest level then Lane needs to find the next man up. It’s up to the coaches to grade film and determine who was doing what they were supposed to and who wasn’t but these athletes want millions? Give them the accountability to match it.

LSU brought in over 60 players. That is the equivalent of years of high school recruiting.
As soon as we get a practice squad, the NFL and college football will be a wash.

there's a slight difference between a rebuild (new players/depth etc) and implementing an entirely new scheme from a new HC, with an entirely new staff on offense.
yes LSU spent $50M on its roster, there were 0 QB's on scholarship when LK arrived. we needed lineman, LB's, DB's, an entire room of starters and reserves at WR, and a ton of DL help.
it was 1 game, on the road, with a team seeking blood, and we had a chance. no one is panicking. no one saying its a rebuild with NIL/free transfers, but we have said it may take some time this year to implement all his philosophies and culture. but we all knew LK was going to be under the microscope to go 15-0 since some panties got twisted up and feelings got hurt in how mean he was when he left.

It wasn’t that he was mean. He actively tried to sabotage and tank the entire program. But that’s another discussion.
